Hello, currently I'm in a pretty bad situation ):
My best friend always comments on me in a way that brings me down. For example today she told me that I'm "so bad at remembering things" and that I "cant remember anything" and so on. She said it in such a passive aggressive way. I felt so bad about myself and anxious afterwards. It really ruined my day ): Maybe I should add that I have a very low self esteem. I try working on it, but I always seem to fail. She also knows about this. She knows that I tend to feel anxious, and feel bad about myself, but she still talks to me like that. Nearly always when I say something wrong, she does such a big deal about it, and laughs at me. I don't even laugh with her. I just feel awful. Now maybe she doesn't realise how mich she hurts me? Maybe she just wants to tease me a little bit? I honestly don't know... Can someone please tell me if I'm being overly dramatic? What should I do about the situation? How can I break free from her, and find other friends, even though I have such a low self esteem ? |

No, you're not being overly dramatic. Yeah maybe she doesn't realize, like u said. I would try once saying, yes I'm aware I don't remember everything. But does that mean I have a bad memory? And let's think of ways to improve my recall, together. Tell her that her comments made u feel super anxious all day.
Good luck! |

Also I missed u saying she laughs at u. I hate when that happens to me & I have low esteem, too. I would ask her what is so funny & that I don't appreciate being ridiculed. Try to gently mention all these things & see what she says. U deserve happiness & to feel good about yourself. Don't let others bring u down!

Who needs enemies when you have friends like that? First step to taking better care of yourself is to distance yourself from people who are consistently corrosive and agitating. You deserve support and understanding! 😊
