Hi! Haven't been here for a while due to my mother's failing health. You may recall problems I was having with her general attitude towards me.

Towards end of last year, she fell at home which resulted in hospital admission. Discharged after 10 days with re-enablement package in place, 3 carers provided. No real improvement in her mobility, etc. Then another fall in January. This time she was returned to medical fitness, then moved to rehab centre where she made no progress.

At this time, my brother and I started to question dementia. Rehab centre wouldn't assess. Social Services then suggested care homes which we viewed and selected a local one, where she now lives. Dementia assessment has started but progress is slow.

Back tracking a little. After first fall, brother and I stayed overnight with mother but he said it would not become permanent. In rush to get home one evening, I put my car through her garage door. Think that was result of pressure situation.

Rehab centre after second fall tried to get her moving, but she refused to cooperate. Same attitude now at the care home. We're preparing her bungalow for sale, to pay for the care home. Yet to tell her what's happening....

One thing that's pleased me is better relationship I now have with my brother.
We talk twice a week and both do work at her house. Was surprised to learn that mother had been treating him same as me. He said he wish he'd listened to me sooner....

Hope you're still with me after this saga. More normality returning to life as cutting back on visits

That sounds like quite a big change, getting your mother into care is a big step, well done for navigating through this difficult situation.
