This is just a rant that I want to get off my chest. I can’t stand Quora. There, I said it. It is filled with the most chauvinistic, woman-hating people that will act like they’re the victims all while screaming how all women are bad and then defend themselves claiming it’s the “truth”. Here are some examples:
What is something hypocritical about feminism? - Quora What is the height of hypocrisy on feminism? - Quora How do feminists feel when instances of hypocrisy and bigotry within feminism are highlighted in social media? - Quora What are some examples of feminist hypocrisy? - Quora Is it true that feminism has become too hypocritical to be respected? - Quora https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-bi...-its-followers https://www.quora.com/How-can-we-all...re-is-equality https://timesdelphic.com/77627/relay...-gone-too-far/ (Ok that one isn’t from Quora, but this deserves a mention) https://www.quora.com/Why-is-it-soci...say-I-hate-men https://ameliasordell.medium.com/can...m-963651cbd127 (Not Quora either but needs a mention) And a few non-Quora links: https://troubonline.com/political-pa...and-the-draft/ https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/...a_mens_rights/ I’m really sick and tired of the misogyny of social media. I know I’ve said it before, but I’m willing to say it again as many times as I want. I’m sick of men complaining about misandry and then using this ideology to justify their hatred of women. Quora is also hypocritical, when men fully admit to hating women, they find reasons to “justify” them as well as many others agreeing with them. But when a woman says she hates men, or more likely says she doesn’t trust men, she gets bashed on, called a misandrist, accused of being a radical feminist who believes in the phrase “kill all men”, and constantly told “**** you, I hate you too, women suck, you delusional females are always saying the same ****”, etc. What’s even worse is that these men think that THEY are the real victims, that women are out to kill them, and that feminism has brainwashed women to “male bashing”, and how men are the reason we apparently live in peace. Like yeah, let’s totally forget all the women who got involved in improving our living standards, because that’s all “man’s work”, right? They’ll give every reason to justify misogyny such as “if radical feminists refuse to take down their “**** the patriarchy” ideology, then we refuse to keep quiet on speaking the truth about women”, yet they'll throw a fit when a woman says “men are pigs”, even though they’re ok with calling us women snakes, cats, birds, whatever animal they can call us. If men are okay with dehumanizing us women and using misogyny as “criticism”, yet will throw a fit when women make generalizations about them, that summarizes THEIR actions rather than ours. As the saying goes “men can dish it out, but they can’t take it”, hilariously they’re offended by THAT as well. It’s just the truth, put your big boy pants on and deal with it. Rant over. Sadly, there’s still a frightening amount of misogyny in the world. I don’t read Quora, but I see plenty of other examples throughout the rest of the media, whether it’s social media or the news media. I think the news media thrive on division and hatred - and my impression is that they particularly love to post anything that causes gender division.
The popularity of people like Andrew Tate shocks me to my core. I just don’t understand where his base of followers come from. It makes me wonder what kind of homes some of these young men are growing up in that attracts them to this kind of misogynistic, abusive, woman-hating behaviour. I grew up with a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, and bigoted father, and I never ever understood where his hatred and beliefs came from. As a teenager it scared me to death, but as an adult I always challenged his behaviour. I think all anyone can do is challenge this behaviour when they come across it. I honestly believe that only education can change this, but it does need the wider media to get on board with this. It doesn’t help, of course, when some of the most powerful men in the world don’t lead the way - America has just elected one of the worst examples of a misogynist that there ever could be - so this kind of sets the tone and, rather sadly, the acceptance of this horrendous behaviour. __________________ Jeff |
