ive just been informed by both tom and beav that they want to quit 6th form. theyre both finding it hard i know, but i told them that they could get help from me anytime, and neither of them asked for it. i dont want them to both end up in a dead end job with only GCSE qualifications. because yes i know you can get a job with GCSEs, but they require more stimulation than the jobs on offer. weve talked about careers before, and i know beav wants to be a police officer, and tom was thinking about teaching. that would be impossible if they left 6th form. and i dont want them to chuck away what they want because theyre getting a bit stressed. (well. very stressed.)
i dont want to say, oh no you cant quit. because i know it doesnt suit everyone. but i dont think they do that badly, tom believes hes very behind, and in reality, hes doing just as well as i am. beavs been discouraged by mr H who needs a rocket up his bum for being so crap with kids.
bleh. i just want to make sure they can get the most out of themselves. beav would make a great police officer, and tom a great teacher. i dont want them to throw it away because they were a bit stressed and depressed. and i want to make it easy for them to get the job they want.
on another note, toms mom is getting him into hypnotherapy. wow. she must be getting desperate with his moodswings. he seems alright lately though.
on the same note, beavers parents are as crap as ever. and still think i run a cult. *scowls*

As a frog of little brain, I am not too good in the children department.

Both of my sons stayed in school and graduated. They had to get jobs the last year of school so they could buy cars cause Mom & Dad were working and could not take them all over town and there was no public transportation available.

Both of my grandsons are struggling with school. Neither of them works and their Mom takes them everywhere or they can use public transportation. The youngest has ADD so I'll take than into consideration. However the oldest gets straight A's on all the exams and can't understand why the teachers want to fail me for not turning in his homework.

So as you can see, I certainly don't have any answers. I do wish you luck.

With our economy the way it is you can't say "you want to flip burgers all night" cause more than likely that job is now filled by someone with a PhD that can't find work.

have they looked at the other options like collage which could be less work but still get them to where they want to go, i know our collage does a course which builds ppl up so they can cope better in real life

Hi. Your friends are lucky to have you for a friend. I can't think of anything to say, since I'm sure you've talked to them already. It's hard to hang in there, but it'll be worth it when it's over. They'll have a lot more satisfying job choices if they do. Good luck.

I remember one REALLY bad day in college, i stalked out of my class because my idiotic teacher gave me a D on a really good paper just because i disagreed with her. I was LIVID. I tore my paper to shreds, stormed outside and lost it... sobbing, leaining on a tree. This was my second year. Well, a homeless guy came past, saw me, and said "Stay in school, it's worth it. All this will be behind you soon."

It took me 9 years to finish a 4 year degree but i did it. and now I am half way thru my Masters. Kiya

i am not impressed at his parents.

we got kicked out of our social space. under the stairs. there was no reason, the head of year just wanted to.

we fought it to the death and in the end he barricaded us out with chairs and tables which he cabletied together.
