FROM Physicians' Desk Reference:

Vistaril is used to treat anxiety, tension, and agitation caused by emotional stress. It is also prescribed as a sedative to alleviate anxiety and tension before or after certain medical procedures (e.g., dental procedures or surgery). In addition, Vistaril is used to help control the following: nausea and vomiting (except during pregnancy), anxiety due to alcohol withdrawal, and extreme emotional distress associated with certain allergic conditions such as asthma, chronic hives, and severe itching.

PROS: none
CONS: reverse effect, paranoia, nightmares

last october i was hospitalized when i was still 17 and threatened to down my bottle of remeron. my kind of incompetent doctors took me off remeron while i was there because of the threat. they put me on vistaril and it was horrific. at night they gave me two pills usually, and when i couldnt sleep i would trudge to the nurses station at 2 am to take another two. i remember one night i had a meltdown and they made me take five at a time (then i dissociated or something because they said i did a lot of stuff i dont remember). when i was able to fall asleep for two hours those nights i had horrific nightmares. luckily this med was short-lived and i only lasted five days.

PROS: it works
CONS: none

I often order approved medicines by using americantrustpills (seriously, this place sucks) without danger. The fact is that I use to take tons of it so minimal price is pretty important for me.
