Pros: A great insight into a teen struggling with mental illness
Cons: fictionalized and not factual

I read this book as a teenager, and it opened my eyes. For the first time in my life, I felt like maybe there was someone out there who could understand me and what I felt and experienced. It was a very powerful book for me at that time. I still remember reading about the character's inner imaginary life and feeling thunderstruck that someone had been able to describe how real her thought life was compared to how unreal her surroundings felt.
