I think i am experiencing transference with my psychologist. I have been in therapy for three months, and we and have just now begun EMDR treatment. My fear is that after EMDR treatment is over, he will call an end to the therapy and I will never be able to talk with him about it. The reason Im not sure if I should tell him right now is because we are currently doing EMDR, though previously we had been doing normal talk therapy. My feelings towards him are confusing. I don't think its erotic, but I am slightly infatuated with him, and at the same time a little angry with him for no real reason. I want to discuss these feelings, but I am also afraid that me being under age will make it too inappropriate. Any advice?

It's perfectly fine to bring it up. Does EMDR involve more physical closeness? Maybe that is setting off a lot of feelings.

EMDR is not going to fix everything. What other style of therapy does he use? He will mix it up. I know it is hard for a therapist to get in your personal space with EMDR when you have transference. What a while and the transference will start to morph/change and it will lessen as you heal.

Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.
Thanks for this!

Basically we've being doing the standard (CBT, i think?) talking therapy, i have had one session of EMDR, and my next session (which is tomorrow) will be normal talking. He actually told me he is going to avoid touching me with the other type of EMDR practice, tones and hand buzzers to "avoid any ickyness"

I've never fully understood emdr , not sure what the buzzers and headphones are for? Thought it was just eye movements?

If it works and you are feeling relief, maybe it brings out a sense of gratitude for feeling better?
