Hi everyone,

I hope it's okay to post this here--if it isn't, please mods, delete the post.

As a way to cope with many of my anxieties (my transference being one of them), I dance. I found that making a routine to a song that reminds me of my T helps me feel less anxious about my transference. I wanted to provide a space to list songs that remind us of our T's

I also want to open this up and make it more general so if you also connect to a book, poem, movie, TV show or any other form of media please feel free to post it here!

I'll go first. Songs that remind me of T: "What Now" by Rihanna, "On my mind" by Ellie Goulding, "Wildest Dreams" by Taylor Swift (gosh, this feels so high school but I hope this helps other people too!). TV shows that remind me of T: In Treatment.

It does feel high-school, but that's not a bad thing. Those first crushes correspond with periods of growth, IMO. So it's okay to feel silly and young about it all.

I have a whole playlist on Spotify for this purpose. Most of my songs run kind of angsty and moody, but sexy. That's my style I guess. I am an artist at unrequited crushes.

There's a really good song by Sarah Jaffe, called "Disconnect" that fits the bill to a tee, but it's dark and moody (not recommended for Depression). "Phoenix" by Laura Dogget is a moody one too but I like the revival and comeback theme, it gives me permission to feel sexual as a means of self-validation.

The most uplifting positive one would be "Brave" by Sara Bareilles. I can totally see my Therapist saying these lyrics. I think any good therapist would promote that one.
Thanks for this!

When I'm struggling with opening up:

This is so hard for me
To find the words to say
My thoughts are standing still

Captive inside of me
All emotions start to hide
And nothing's getting through

Watch me,
Fading
I'm losing
All my instincts,
falling into darkness

Tear down these walls for me
Stop me from going under
You are the only one who knows
I'm holding back
Thanks for this!

'Stay' by Rhianna, - especially the 'round and around and around and around we go' bit

Yeah it does feel teenagey, but I like that. Still real feelings, and maybe something to notice that they're driven from a young place?
Thanks for this!

Whenever I hear All Men Are Freezing by Robert Pollard I think of T1:

For all you’ve done
I’ll miss you anyway
Anywhere you crawl
Through blackest years and human glass
I will miss you
for no good reason

Perhaps! Maybe I'm trying to dismiss my feelings by saying "oh they're just silly teenage girl feelings" (there's nothing wrong or silly about being young and having feelings--if you're a teenager reading this).
