I have started my search to find a part-time job and so far have been unsuccessful. I have an interview on Saturday afternoon at a grocery store.

Friday night is going to be difficult because my body will be filled with stress and anxiety. In short, I will get now sleep.

Can you please pray for me to feel happy and calm again...I haven't felt like this in a long long long time. Thank-you!

I understand how stress can keep you awake the night before. Still, after you have everything in order for Saturday, rest. Even if you don't sleep, lie down and rest your body. Try to counter the excess thoughts...and focus on just one or two positive things. At least this way you won't be physically fatigued as well as mentally fatigued.

Refrain from getting up and down, in and out of bed. Keep water and such by your bed.

Most importantly of all, don't stress over not sleeping! Allow it. You know this is how your body responds, and for now that's ok. Don't beat yourself up with frustration, that will make you worse. So when you do have to get out of bed, tell yourself it's ok... and then get back to bed to allow the body it's rest as soon as you can.

Give yourself positive thoughts such as: even though I may only sleep a few hours (from sheer exhaustion) I will wake feeling refreshed as though I slept all night. Breathe deeply whenever you think of it...breathing is often something we shorten when anxious. Remind yourself that the job isn't for a rocket scientist, something you can't do...but a job you can do and want. That tomorrow might bring you that job, but it's good exposure none-the-less. You can do fine. You're an adult, the interviewer is an adult (and not a god) and understands about interviewing issues.

It's ok to have the tv on, and in fact you might just fall asleep with it on, distracting you. If you have a timer on the tv, set it to shut off after a few hours, so it doesn't wake you back up.

If you're obviously whipped on Saturday, then tell the interviewer you are so excited to get this job you could barely sleep all night!

Good wishes!

I cancelled the interview because I knew there was a 95% chance of me not getting the job.

My background is in childcare and psychology. The interview was for a grocery store cashier which I have zero experience in. Thank-you for your kindness and support.
