Hubby did just great with the surgery today. After a few hours in his room I made a dash back home to walk the dog. Now it's time to drive back. He gets to sit up in a chair maybe after dinner tonight. Big exciting stuff! Doc says if he does okay with his first sip of liquids tomorrow, he will be coming home on Thursday! Oh, yeah,

God is Good, God is Good, God is Good all the time

thanks for all your prayers ...love your support here on PC.

Beholden,
Joyful news, that he is doing well. Prayers help so much, may he continue to recover well and lose the weight he wants to. I'm sure it helps having such a wonderful caring loving wife by his side.

god bless that he continues to do well. God is good indeed.

amante,

Thank you so much for such kind words.

I got back to the hospital just in time to watch him sleep for about 2 hours! When he did wake up for a quick few words, he was so funny. The staff is supposted to get him up and sitting in a chair tonight, but it didn't happen while I was there.

Tomorrow he will do the 'swallow test' with barium to see if he has any 'leaks' in his digestive tract. So keep those prayers comin'!

I'm tired so it's off to bed for me so I can be wide eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow for him. And my doggie. She and I had such a good walk today, I'm hopeful we will have as good a time in the morning before I get ready for the 40 minute drive back for my visit.

Good night all. God Bless.

He must be getting better....he is so grumpy! He was up and walking good today. But he had to get poked about 4 extra times today when his IV needed to be replaced...his veins hit just like his mother's used to.

I'm so tired right now and it's really late. Why did I stay up so long??????? Got to go put the sheets into the dryer before I go off to dream land. PC relaxes me, what can I say for being here so long?

Good night.

Grumpy is a sure sign that he's doing better, he'll feel better still in a few more days and when he can come home. Typically how long of a stay is it with gastric bypass surgery?

My honey has a little hic up and had to stay in the hospital. His little fever isn't gone so they did a chest x-ray and they saw some indications of him not breathing deeply enough, the whole lung doesn't inflate or something and could be 'infected'. So they want'ed to keep him overnight with instructions to keep walking and sitting up in a chair for at least an hour at a time 3 or more times during the day. And they showed him how to use the little breathing tube/machine again. He wasn't doing that correctly.

He has his IVs out, and his oxygen isn't being used, they want to see where is 'normal' oxygen levels are since he won't have ox. at home...

But the good news is they will discharge him tomorrow even if it is with an antibiotic.

I was only up at the hospital this morning until around 2 this afternoon. After I got home to let the dog out and have lunch since I hadn't planned on him staying, I didn't have my slimfast and celery/green peppers and grapes with me and I was hungry! Anyway, I phoned him to ask if he minded that i stayed home for an hour nap before coming back up to visit and sit with him. He told me to just stay home and get rested up. After I ate and slept 2 hours, I feel so much better.

Now, I can get some other house work done and be really rested for when he is home tomorrow. Man, I can't believe how wiped out I felt today.

Hey, smarty pants KathyM, NO The sheets weren't in the oven! LOL
But, I have walked over to my sink to pour myself a coffee or to the garbage can in the kitchen to find the bread!!!! Usually it is in the early morning after I first walk into the kitchen, and especially when I've had to use Ambien to help me sleep.
