Why is it when you get through one thing, there is something else? I went to the doctor today to get my blood pressure check and to see if my medication needed adjusted. My blood pressure was fine, but I asked the doctor about me getting sick when I ate fried foods and mayo. Well, he started poking around. He ordered blood work. He basically said that I was going to have to have gall bladder surgery. Either I have it when my gall bladder wasn't flared up make it a simple surgery or have it when it was and make it a major surgery. I don't want to have surgery period. My husband and I are going to our pastor for prayer. Please pray for me, I know God can and will heal me.

It's always something because that's what life is...that's the definition of life... going through one task after another.
I hope it isn't your gall bladder. ![]() I can't eat fried foods and it has nothing to do with my gall bladder (though it might be yours)... I just don't have garbage in my system to help handle the fat in the fried foods...which is a good thing I guess? ![]() ![]()

I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling ill after eating these foods. You say that the Dr. poked around and did some blood tests. As a Nurse, I am not aware of a specific lab that would point directly to Gall Bladder issues, especially if it is not inflamed or acute, at this point. They gold standard for diagnosing Gall Bladder issues is an ultrasound to scan for Gall Stones. If you haven't had an ultrasound done yet, I suggest you request one before letting anyone preform surgery on you to remove one of your organs. IMO, if your US comes back clean, or otherwise without Gall Stones and there are no other symptoms....there really isn't a reason to have the Gall Bladder removed. My suggestion would be to work towards decreasing your consumption of fried foods and other more fatty foods like the mayo. I'm not trying to tell you what to do...I just don't want you to have a surgery you don't need, if you in fact don't need it. I've unfortunately known enough Drs. to order a surgery that's not necessary, simply to reap the benefits of the medicare reimbursements. And, if you still have your appendix, it would not surprise me in the least if the Dr. tried to suggest removing it at the same time under the guise that it will save you from possibly needing another surgery later on. I've seen that a lot too. What ever you decide, I hope it goes well. ![]()

I agree with Elysium, just because high fat foods makes your stomach hurt does not reflect gall bladder immediately, though that COULD be the case. Make sure you do your research before you let them do anything as drastic as surgery. Keep us posted and I am sending my prayers and well wishes.

Thanks for all the replies. Gall bladder disease runs in my family. Besides fatty foods and mayo making me sick, I am having pain where my gall bladder is. The doctor will have me have the tests I need to get it check, I am trying to put things off until the end of tax season. The blood tests are for various things he wants to check for. He refuses to wait for those tests to be done. Sorry I wasn't clearer in my original post. He is checking cholestrol, sugar, etc. He noticed I haven't had a complete blood work-up in a couple years. Sorry again, for not being clearer in my original post, but there is very good reason to suspect gall bladder problems. I was very upset when I did the post. I feel bad about the wording now. So sorry.
