My daughter has just applied for a six month volunteer position at a local Buddhist monestary. It includes room and board and a $150/month allowance. She would be working binding spiritual books for monks throughout the world and would be able to participate in any and all classes and retreats as well as morning and evening meditation sessions with the Sangha.

Though we are both excited for the opportunity, she is 19 years old and they have a minimum age of 21 for the position... we however, remain hopeful. I went with her yesterday to see the temple and we met with some folks, very nice. I wanted them to know that we (her family) fully support her, which was something they looked for. Anyway, excitedly waiting and hoping.

Hey AK

How wonderful this opportunity is! I do hope they see that 21 does not always equal maturity, and that they recognise her energy as ideal for the position. I did actually see a female binding a book as I read your post...hopefully it is a premonition for her

Bright Blessings,

Rhiannon

Not yet; thank for asking though. They have stated that the application process is kept open for six weeks after which they go through them all and so we haven't been expecting to hear anything yet - but soon.
