Hi all,

Tonight I got the news that my cousin has been addicted to prescription drugs. She has been addicted for a while now and with all that goes with addiction came the lies. Her family had a profesional intervention tonight and she is on her way to a rehab in Michigan for up to 5 months.

My cousin and I are very close and lately we have lost touch. We live states away from each other...she lives in CO, and I live in WI. We saw each other a year ago New years and I could tell she was addicted then, but didn't want to believe it and I was in my own fog at the time. She has had a very rough go at life. She went to columbine High school and was on campus the day of the shooting. She hasn't dealt with it and this is the way she was trying to deal with that and the abuse she went through as a child.

I just ask that people keep her in your heart and prayers as she travels down this long road to recovery and hopefully a better life. I won't/can't contact her probably for at least a month. I did call her mom/my aunt and asked her to please let me know when contact can be made.

I am still in a state of shock and it's taking a toll on me too, I just wish the best for her right now. I miss her with all my heart.

Know that you and your cousin are in my thoughts and prayers. I know that she is going through a lot but now maybe she can get the help she needs and deserves. I know you are close to your cousin and are worried. I am sure they will let you know when you can make contact with her. Know that we care and are here for you.
