another special kitty of mine has gone missing. his name is Charlie. and oddly enough, he is one of Al’s brothers and Stripes is his father!

Charlie was being picked on by a couple of the other cats, to the point that he would not even sleep in the barn. there were a few times that i swore he had slept outside in the rain. so i spent five hours one night building him his own wood house, which a piece of plastic over it to keep it dry in the rain. and everyday i would carry him to the barn for food and water, wait for him to get done, and then carry him back to his house.

i'm just in such a tremendous amount of pain right now. i have lost three special cats in one month.

you see, my cats are my “angels in disguise”! they bring me so much love and attention and are there for me. they don’t judge me and always willing to listen! they are the one thing keeping me going. but with everything that’s happened in the past month, i’m not even sure i want to keep going anymore…

*little background:


June 28th: my favorite cat (Stripes) got injuried in an accident of some kind. i found him laying in the barn, hurt so bad that i had to make the decision to put him to sleep. my dad came out and put Stripes to sleep, and then i buried him. this was extremely hard to do, and i basically bawled for an hour straight; i just couldn't stop.

you see, i had four favorite cats. and the early part of last year, i had two of them die about 6 weeks apart. and now Stripes is number three. i just don't know that i can handle this much pain. i love my cats - they are like my kids. but losing them - it's just more pain than a person with depression should have to deal with...

July 7th: it's been a rough past week for me...

not only did i have to put my favorite cat Stripes to sleep, but now another special kitty of mine is missing. Al (who is orange and white) has been missing since July 1st! Al and i had a special bond and i would see him at least once a day, which is why him being gone for so long is strange. i try to keep some positive thoughts by saying that he just lost his way and ended up at another farm. but that's hard to believe.

i just feel so devastated right now, losing two special cats in one week...

Many hugs to you. I know how hard it is to lose a special fur friend. I hope you can find your kitty and that he is safe and unharmed.

Oh jrae...........I am soooo sorry. That's more pain in such a short time than one should ever have to endure. I can't find the words.......I know what my animals have meant to me. My dog Magruder is my everything now. I will hold you and Charlie in my thoughts.......holding onto hope..........hugs, grey

Are you where there are a lot of coyotees? You may have to keep your cats locked up in the barn at night, that is usually when coyotees come out, dusk. That is one reason why I don't have cats in my barn. My neighbor in front of me used to have 29 cats and he doesn't have any left. Maybe since you love your cats so much you might want to consider getting a cat that just is a house cat. My daughter has two cats and they never go out and they are very content to be house cats.

I am so sorry that you have lost such good friends in such a short time. But just keep in mind that there are many cats and kittens that are up for adoption, that is how my daughter got her two kittens that are now full grown. And they are all very loving, so even though you have lost, your love could provide for another cat.

jrae, I do hope that Charlie kitty comes home safely. I will pray for sure. I know how much I love cats and dogs. Of course you are deeply upset.

thanks everyone for all your kind thoughts and prayers!!

it's been ten days now and still no Charlie. we have quite a few cats on the farm here. they are free to roam and go on hunting "trips". but never can i remember a time when we had so few adult cats and this many "friendly" ones missing in such a short time period.

i just don't understand why this has to happen to me and why now. crap like this only makes my TRD that much worse.

p.s. i can't have an inside cat - both my mom and younger sister are allerigic to them
