I have arthritis in my knees and so I get injections that mimic the cartilage that is missing in my knees. Well most of the time it works great and I am pain free for about 4-5 months then I grin and bear it for another month 'til I can get another one. My insurance only pays for them every 6 months.

Anyway I had them in December and my left knee is not cooperating and getting better. If anything it is getting worse to the point I am back on crutches and have a big ole' brace on.

I went and saw the doc on Friday and he is ordering an MRI of my knee since it has been awhile for one to have been done. In fact I don't think one has been done since my last knee surgery. Anyway he will look at the MRI and then decide if he needs to go in there and clean out again.

We have begun the talk about knee replacement and he said I probably have about 5 more years on my knees. So hopefully he is able to just go in clean it out and I'm done for another few years.

So pray my MRI shows the doc what he needs to see to get me back to running. I miss being able to run.

Jan

Prayers coming your way. I will send prayer on the wings of air and ask that the medical community and your knee find the proper solution for you.

Best wishes. I have arthritis in both knees and know what that pain is like. Hang in there.

prayers coming your way, jbug! i've had knee surgery and had to give up tennis. then, i tried cycling and much to my surprise, i liked it! exercise followed by no knee or foot pain - a godsend.

i also know someone who has had 2 knee replacements. the recovery is painful but worth it. they are now fine.
Thanks for this!

I got the unofficial result on my knee the other day. The place I went to get my MRI is tied in with all my doctors so when I went and saw my GP on Tuesday he looked up the results and gave them to me and then told me to think of some questions to ask my ortho doc. The unofficial report is I have some dead tissue in my knee...it is something necrosis. So it looks like I will be having surgery to have my knee cleaned out. Woohoo . I am not looking forward to this and I looked it up on the 'net and that is the recommended form of treatment. We talked about it in therapy today and my T told me she had that in her hips and that is why she had to have surgery and had her hips replaced. So I am hoping that is not what is going to happen because I am too young to have my knee replaced. I imagine that is what is going on in my other knee also so at some point in time it will have to have some attention paid to it also.

So please be sending good vibes and prayers my way in the morning when I go to the doctor to discuss my treatment.

Jan
