My Grandma (who I have lived with for many years) was admitted into the Hospital Monday night after suffering what the Doctors believe to be a stroke. At first she could not speak, and could not walk. My Grandma is only 58 and my Grandparents and aunt are all I have, so losing her would just be devastating to me after all the things I have been through lately... We have always been extremely close, but for a couple of years we had some issues as I was going through my teen years. The things that I have gone through lately has really brought us closer together and I am so worried for her...
I have been off of work helping take care of the pets and taking turns seeing her in the Hospital. She is getting better, but she still can't walk and we don't know if she will ever be able to walk again.. It is so scary to me... She is talking again, still has some slurring but we can understand her. I love her to death and just want her better and to come home... We thought she might be better by this weekend and could come home since she progressed so quickly but now the Doctors are worried that she still can't walk. They are going to do rehab but I guess expected her to get some of the feeling in her legs back already... I am only posting this for her, she needs as much support as she can get. Whatever religion you are makes no difference, just please keep her in your thoughts. Don't feel sorry for me, she is the one who needs the support. I love you Nonna. |

I understand a bit of what your grandma means to you. Mine was also everything for me and after she died, I felt lost. But at that time, she was way much older than your is and I know that many persons who have had a stroke can recover almost completely. Your grandma is young and I do believe she'll find the strength and support to win this fight and walk and laugh and maybe even dance again! Don't feel sorry for her, don't lose hope and give your best to try and cheer her up, share your faith and hope with her. Sometimes all this is just a matter of patience, faith and support. It might take longer than you'd wish, it might harder for all of you than you ever expected, but keep your spirits high and believe in miracles, because they happen to everyone who really believes.
I'll surely keep her in my thoughts and prayers. |
