Perhaps some dreams might just be indigestion; however, I believe some dreams are a reflection of what is going on in the spiritual plane. Since having my dream about the large cobra in my house, I have been researching Biblical dream symbolism (and many other religions and spiritual practices have their own symbolism/meaning that things in our dreams may be signifying).

At the end of this video, the author concludes that snakes represent our higher consciousness (I think of it as our spirit):

Do you think we sometimes connect with the spiritual world (both good and bad) when we dream?
Thanks for this!

I’m not so sure about the spirit world, but I do believe people can connect or link up in some way while dreaming. Before I ended my longest friendship, ex friend and her best friend were continually invading my dreams, either by popping up where least expected pretending nothing was wrong, or stepping out of a portal to interrupt the dream.

Sounds like a lot to sort through.

My sister thinks that my dreams (and many of our dreams) are our mind processing things that have occurred in our life. I do believe that this is a common reason for dreams. It is one of the reasons why they say that when you study, you will retain more information if you study right before bedtime or take a nap after. An example is when I have had a new challenging job--I will have dreams about it when I am getting acclimated to the new challenge.

I have dreamed of family members and pets that have passed away. I don't know if their spirits are connecting with me, but I do find it comforting.

I will always remember having a dream where my mom came back, hugged me in my dream and that hug felt like her saying she understood why I treated her as I did and that she knew I loved her and she loved me (that's a lot of meaning from one hug--isn't it?). I had not been at peace about my mom's death for years and I was after that dream. Perhaps that was just me processing what had occurred. On the other hand, I have seen some on the internet say that most people "sleep" (Enoch is one of the exceptions to this they say) until the resurrection and if you are visited by the dead it is demons masquerading as something good but their intentions are anything but....

I believe that dreams serve several purposes. Sometimes dreams connect me to the spirit of a loved one, or someone I knew, who has left the world. I don't know how it works, but I know how it feels.

I believe 100% that we can connect with the spirit world through dreams. Not every single dream of course as more often than not my dreams are the ordinary kind, but every so often I have one and I know it has touched something beyond.

No. From my understanding there are images created in our brain etc nothing to do with spirits. I know there is no good explanation of why we dream as it’s just too tricky to research all that. It doesn’t mean we can’t believe in whatever we want. Some beliefs make life easier so why not
