I doubt you have any demon in you. When we miss our meds, our minds start playing havoc with us again, and all those "bad thoughts'" start in again just like before we started meds. So it's not a demon. It's just our minds without the meds. That's why it's so important NOT to forget our medicatiions!

I definitely know the feeling of “possession”. After therapists didn’t take that idea seriously but didn’t help me, either, I decided to take the idea seriously myself. I found two Christian counseling services which I thought might take the idea of exorcism seriously – one with an Episcopalian priest and the other with a deliverance ministry. I asked the priest for an exorcism – it didn’t help. I got some counseling at the deliverance ministry but didn’t ask for deliverance explicitly. And they didn’t suggest it.

That was years ago – eventually I found some therapists who suggested a dissociation disorder (DDNOS). The therapy I have gotten for that has helped me know, accept, and understand the disowned parts of myself that I now believe were generating the feeling of being possessed.

I didn’t need meds, just effective therapy for a more-or-less accurate diagnosis. What are you on meds for? If it’s bipolar or something in the schizophrenic spectrum, then I think I can see how things could feel “possess-y” because the brain activity wasn’t working right, not necessarily because parts had been “disowned” like with me. Have you asked a pdoc or therapist?

I know plenty of people who believed I was and still am. The reality is I have DID which accounts for the different voices coming out of my mouth.

Try getting a pill organiser which will help you to remember to take your meds. Also you may need to have your meds tweaked in light of the anxiety. So take a trip to your GP of P'doc and let them know what is happening.

Demons get way too much credit........

I don't know that I believe in demonic possession, but I would never dabble with "tools" that invite spirits...such as the Ouija Board, or chants, spells, etc. The mind is just too fragile as it is! I've watched a lot of films about possession. One interesting one, based on the book by the same name, is The Rite. It is the supposedly true story of a priest who went to the Vatican to study the rituals of excorcism. The book is more down-to-earth, while the film takes a lot of dramatic liberties to appeal to moviegoers. In the end, it seems to validate the concept of demonic possession.

Now...as for meds. When I attempted to wean myself off antidepressants, over a period of two years, finally going off completely...thinking I'd be okay...I was not! No, I didn't feel possessed at all; I was just incredibly sad, crying all the time and pretty much a basket case. So, if you have meds that help you, I say, be mindful of that and use them for your well-being!

I can see why some people shy away from this subject or may not believe any of it.. but from my experiences over the years- yes, they're are mental issues going on- but there are times where i genuinely felt something deeper going on- with regards to my personality- almost like a different, bad person.

actual spiritual possession no never been through that, but I have been through the feeling as if I was being possessed/taken over by issues/things/ spirits which turned out to be delusions and hallucinations from bipolar and medication induced psychosis. once I was on the correct meds for my bipolar I no longer perceived myself as being possessed. I do have a past diagnosis of DID but I never perceived those with in me as spirits/ demons taking over my body. in fact the only symptom i had before diagnosis was hearing some of their voices, thoughts but believing this was completely normal, that everyone had voices/thoughts in their heads.. probably because I became DID as a child so I knew no different. After I was diagnosed with DID I still didnt perceive the alters as spirits /demons/ ... I basically thought of them and referred to them as a part of me, an extension of myself.

I believe that people, when in a weakened state, can be used by evil to do horrible things, yes. Those who let evil in may not find it easy to kick the evil back out.

But that isn't to say that I think people with mental illness are necessarily possessed, even if they think they cannot control their actions. I think there is a big difference between evil and illness.

The people I have known who did really bad things were all conscious they were doing bad things and did those things deliberately. Every single one of them justified what they did, mostly through blaming whoever they victimized or minimizing what they were doing or had done. One of the biggest bullies I know justifies what she does by denying that (read any list of bullying tactics) is bullying. In my opinion, she's given herself over to evil and I doubt she could shake it even if she tried.

I think there are reasons why we should try our best to keep ourselves mentally and physically healthy; reasons beyond what we even understand. When I meet people I think would qualify for what could be called possession, I stay very far away from them, psychic-ly speaking.

I absolutely believe in possession and demonic influences and oppression toward humanity. But what do I know? lol I'm not myself the Creator of this universe. Yet I still believe my own beliefs. I won't infringe on others' beliefs with my own, I refuse. I believe there is a Holy Spirit, and evil spirits. They respectively positively and negatively influence our moods, thoughts, behavior and if possible, our actions. I choose to operate within the power of the Holy Spirit alone when I have a choice. If I didn't have a choice, or was deceived, I would operate under an evil spirit. It seems black and white to me. But that's just me. And a few others.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I believe. I know my priest (Anglican - I think that's like Episcopalian in the States) believes that exorcism is not to be taken lightly and has attended a few he believed to be real. This is a man I respect a lot and he wouldn't make light of such a topic.

I can't say yes or no for sure on possession. My dad swears that possession is a real thing. My mother was diagnosed as multiple personality, this is in the 70's so it was syill diagnosed as that. My dad said when her alter took over that she was possessed by a very powerful demon. When I started exhibiting symptoms of schizoaffective, hearing voices and seeing things and other odd symptoms, he said that I had inherited her demon. When my son started showing signs of the same disorder as myself and started getting into a lot of trouble with the law, my dad said that he had an even more powerful demon. I know that when I am on my medication right I don't see things and don't always hear the voices. I have seen my son on medication and he is just a normal young man then. My dad is very devout in his beliefs. I don't knock them. But I don't have to completely agree with him. I can see why he thought my mother was possessed, when her alter took over, her eyes changes colors, her voice changed, her accent changed, she wrote with the opposite hand, and she dressed and behaved different.

Yeah I don't think demons possess people and make you expose themselves on discussion boards but I do think its possible it happened in the bible the man in a graveyard had several which Jesus cast out and they entered a group of pigs and ran off a cliff so I'd say its possible they say the greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing people he didn't exist so if your a Christian this it jives if not lol just ignore me lol

Without getting into heavy discussion... I do know of evil possession... but maybe some mental unwellness is caused by "possession" of some evil entity...

however, I believe we were all made perfect and because of the evil "one" we lost that (yep, Garden of Eden story).... and in that case all bad stuff comes from that evil ... I believe God is good and only gives and creates good.

We are all battling one thing or another but it's not all because of "possession" though ... and I believe that those who believe in a good God cannot be possessed by evil anyway.

I don't know how i came upon where I am today, meaning this thread and these post maybe I was lead here by design? I remember reading when the old one, I know I either thank/hug a few but would have to look back to see if I posted.

So the new Title, anyone believe in possession

I don't engage in the ideology of Possession of Person.

But I can say that I believe in people being possessed by their thinking, thoughts, emotions, circumstances, environment and upbringing.
When we become attached to all the negativity we have an overwhelming mind.
Not a possession of demonic forces.

I do believe in good and evil energy but fundamentally I am the gatekeeper.

I like the evil entity idea. What about a plot of land causing evil? My neighbors are worried because over the decades untold pain and sufferings have gone on here. The pain and suffering seem to also travel with those who have stayed in this area.

This has been a very interesting discussion and a topic that troubles me deeply. I do not wish to be an evil person, did not ever plan to be, but I have been. Mental illness can never be an excuse for evil, so what excuse can I allow myself apart from the belief that I allowed some malign entity into my life at some point? Perhaps we are all born carrying a demon and how we handle it is our ultimate test. It takes strength and courage to be good so perhaps some of us are just too weak to shake off the evil that burdens us. We learn as we go and some of us win and some of us lose. Just my thoughts

I don't really believe in the traditional idea of demons so much, as I don't really believe in christianity. But I think there are spiritual entities and they can sometimes effect people I guess I base this on a few experiences I've had not sure about possession though...Not sure if they'd be spiritual entities or simply just not on this plane of existence or whatever I don't really know.

From a Christian perspective I know a great deal about this subject and that there is a difference between being possessed by demons and being harassed by them. Both can happen and are terrible to endure. Without getting into the subject in depth if anyone has serious concerns feel free to send me a private message as I have studied this subject from a Biblical perspective quite extensively and there are ways to determine the difference between mental illness and demons.

Yes land can carry generational curses etc.
