I believe that there are two places that are possible to go after this life on earth, a place of light and a place of darkness. I believe this after much research into thousands of reported near death experiences spanning every age (even as young as four years old to ninety years old). Great question.

I agree with lightbulb7. There has been too many near death experiences to ignore. Almost all of them say they are at peace, happy and have no more pain. Sounds good to me. Then there are others who have seen the dark side .. well .. lets hope we don't go there!
I believe in life after death. I've asked around and am surprised at how many people dont. Thanks for posting this question shattered sanity .. tis a good one! |

Heaven/hell used in religions to install fear in their members, to keep socail order. The Universe is not like that. There is no Hell.

Though logic seems to indicate that there isn't, I choose to believe that there is an afterlife, though I'm not sure exactly what I believe it is. I just don't want to just rot in the ground after I die.

eskie, I could ask you the same questions.
![]() I don't know if there's an afterlife. I personally hope there is a wonderful Heaven or Paradise of some sort where most people go (because I think most people are generally good) and all animals go. I certainly hope I get to go there. But I don't think it requires you belong to a religion or that any one religion is right. I see a lot of good and bad in most religions, even the ones that claim to be about love and peace. I like to think that, if there's a God, that God is above all that. I can't believe a loving God would send you to Hell because you picked the wrong religion. Most people grow up with the religion they were taught as kids, or a similar form of it. They can't see the world and God as some others see them. That said, I'm open to there being no Heaven or Hell. Although that makes me sad. I know a lot of atheists are okay with that, but I've had a crappy life (some of it my own fault, admittedly)...I like to think we get at least one more chance.

I believe in the afterlife. I believe beings get caught in between here and there and contemplating/ processing the life just finished. I think that could feel like hell, but don't believe in hell (it's here on earth inmho). And after some recharge time back with god, goddess, source, we decide where to go next, usually back here again.
Why do I believe, because it's been a main interest in spiritual studies since I could read such things, then there are dreams etc., experiences with people, confirming it for me. ![]() What do you think Shatterd, where are you at with it? ![]() |

I had Christianity literally beat into me so I believe in heaven and hell. I guess in a way it's a good thing otherwise I'd have checked out a LOONNGG time ago. But since I believe in an afterlife no point. I'm tired of existing but believe in eternal existence so maybe this is hell after all.

when i was younger, i used to believe in 1.. i used to believe that you floated in to another earth... but 1 unlike this one, no pain, no problems, but it wasn't heaven.. it's hard to explain- but i believed we were still aware of our existance and we livedvery happily and in harmony with each other but as i got older, and i started to get worse with my mental issues.. the belief kind of vanished- i'm more like... well if it is true, who the hell would want to wait for it? and now i'm at the stage where i believe that if you die through suicide, you don't get the afterlife.. but if you die naturally, then you do |

I hope there is an afterlife. I have to remain agnostic though because religion is one of my triggers and I tend to go to the extreme on multiple religions. However, I choose to believe that there is something after we die. I don't want to just disappear...

Yes I believe there is a spirit world.
Two years ago I saw a wonderful psychic medium who told me information she had no way of knowing plus names of family members who had died. Since then I have had my own psychic experiences and can honestly say there must be more than this. All evidence points to it. The material world is one aspect of the very large picture. |

Most of us want to believe there is more, but that doesn't make it so. One can only hope. As for psychics, maybe there are real ones, I don't know. Just because they can give you names and facts they couldn't possibly know, doesn't mean they are really psychic. That's not to say they aren't, either. But you have to remain open to the possibility that a person just might be really good at reading you, and/or telling you what they can see you want to hear.

let's take the findings of Physics for example: energy does not cease to exist, it only changes form; action always brings about a reaction; there is always some element of uncertainty in all things; this is not the only dimension of existance.
given those postulates, one must consider that death is not the end, yet life as we know it now is not likely to be the next stage of consciousness, if it is consciousness. it is entirely possible for remnants of energy to remain, and appear as ghosts and things; it's even possible for other forms of consciousness to exist in other dimensions than this one. in the end, one must ask: Who Cares ? What Does It MATTER ? people with very strong energy patterns tell us to "Be Here Now". How can we be anywhere else ? we might be imagining we are in the past, or the future, but there is no evidence to support this. what a waste of a precious consciousness to spend it dredging up memories of time already spent, or wishing for time to come, and having no quality of life in the Now. i am grateful i found the Teaching Buddha while i still had time to learn.

I do not believe in heaven and hell, i do however believe that once your time on Earth is up you get a few minutes to visit someone, not as a physical form, but as a feelinng or emotion, to tell them you love them and let them know what to do.
when nan died i was 250 miles away, but woke up at 3am crying my heart out, i knew not why i was crying until the next morning when i received a phone call to say nan had died at 2.50 am! when my partner died i was painting my nursery school, around 7 pm i got a feeling that i should call his best friend to go visit him in hospital, my partner had been in many times before and not once had he wanted his friends informed, but that night it was such a strong feeling in me that i did call him, his friend said he would go the following morning and for some reason i insisted he go straight away. he did and found my partner had died at 6.45pm. the hospital had been trying to call me but had the wrong number. I truly believe that jim visited me to get me to call his friend so i would not be alone when i returned as planned to hospital that evening. I have no notion as to what happens after the first hour or so after you die, but am certain in my mind that everyone has the opportunity to visit one person in spirit before moving on. |

Some people do believe there is only Heaven (or an equivalent), gabmux. I like that idea, too, but then I think of people who have done the most evil of things. I feel some people deserve Hell, but at the same time, I can understand that people who are "evil" may suffer from a mental illness, a seriously effed-up worldview, chosen bad decisions that led to other bad decisions, and may have been shown from their youth lies and deception that colors what they believe and how they act now. God may not send those people to Hell, but welcome them with love and let them see what is true. I don't know that that's what's what
![]() What I hope, as I've said, is that there is a wonderful afterlife, where I'll get to see those I love and have loved, including the animals that have brightened my life. I also hope they'll forgive me for things I did wrong.

I'm going to accept the fact that nothing really happens after we die.
Since I've decided that agnosticism is better for me than joining a theistic or atheistic spiritual group to fit in, I'm just going to go with seeing nothing but black after we die, and that our energy will be expelled throughout the Earth to other sources of life (This song will help you understand what I'm talking about However, I will keep in mind that their is a possibility of another plane of existence after our death since the universe is so vast that so much of it is unexplored. Maybe what they mentioned about heaven being located up above could refer to what's beyond galaxies. And for those claiming angels (They're called Mal'akhs by the way) appear to them when they die, I have yet to meet one till the day I return to dust. Last edited by sabby; Sep 06, 2014 at 09:50 AM.
