I have been thinking about my core values more lately and wanted to create a thread so the community can discuss them.

I think everybody needs them and it's great to know them so you would be more self aware and helps relationships be more connected.

Mine:

Trust, Security, Patience, Respect, Peace and Love

And of course Integrity which I think is all the above combined and more...

Is this your values over relationships or your values in general?

I think I value compassion, a belief in equality, and the ability to see both sides of an issue - I guess that's peacefulness?

I think what I really admire and value is emotional maturity - the ability to admit to your own flaws and forgive yourself for them and compassionately accept and understand the difficulties others are having. I think the ability to understand the other's point of view actually helps you move forward. When someone has upset me or I feel angry at the way I have been treated, fully understanding what may have caused them to act the way they did helps me to feel compassionate towards their struggles and wish them well, so I rarely feel any kind of grudge. I think that's why I value it so much. It's very peaceful.

I have my flaws but the person I am working to be is:

Kind, understanding, non judgemental, have compassion, have empathy, non confrontational, assertive, peaceful, put other people before myself.

I have some of these but i'm still a work in progress. I will get there one day
