Looked around and didn't see anything similar, so I thought I'd start a thread for it.

What's your favorite song/lyrics that speak to you? Uplift you? Remind you to be strong? Remind you you're loved? Post the lyrics in accordance with the guidlines (make sure you note the artist) but let's hear them!

Ok. I'll go first!

Nate Sallie ~ Save Me

Broken and fighting with myself
Looking for the answers in the eyes of some one else
Crowded but I feel alone
Stranded on this highway
Trying to find my way back home

I try and try
To save my life
But no matter what I do
I need you too

Save me from the walls that I build
From the broken heart inside of me
That just will not heal
Save me
When its hard to believe
And the faith I need
Is so far from the world that I see
Wont you save me
From myself

Bleeding down here on my knees
If I lay down at the altar
Will set my spirit free
Crashing from the live that I lived
Breathing in surrender
Hoping that you will forgive

I try and try
To save my life
But no matter what I do
I need you too

Save me from the walls that I build
From the broken heart inside of me
That just will not heal
Save me
When its hard to believe
And the faith I need
Is so far from the world that I see
Wont you save me
From myself

Save me

One of my friends sent me this song when I was having a bad day... I still love him for it! Great song when you're feeling down and unloveable.

"More" by Matthew West
album: Happy (2003)

Take a look at the mountains
Stretching a mile high
Take a look at the ocean
Far as your eye can see
And think of Me

Take a look at the desert
Do you feel like a grain of sand?
I am with you wherever
Where you go is where I am

And I'm always thinking of you
Take a look around you
I'm spelling it out one by one

(Chorus)
I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow, I'll say it again and again
I love you more

Just a face in the city
Just a tear on a crowded street
But you are one in a million
And you belong to Me

And I want you to know
That I'm not letting go
Even when you come undone

(Chorus)
I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow, I'll say it again and again
I love you more
I love you more

Shine for Me
Shine for Me
Shine on, shine on
Shine for Me

(Chorus)
I love you more than the sun
And the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you yesterday and today
And tomorrow, I'll say it again and again
I love you more

(Chorus)
Than the sun
and the stars that I taught how to shine
You are mine, and you shine for me too
I love you, yesterday and today
Through the joy and the pain
I'll say it again and again
I love you more
I love you more

And I see you
And I made you
And I love you more than you can imagine
More than you can fathom
I love you more than the sun
And you shine for me

My favorite is usually whatever is on the radio or within hearing distance. I heard a musician once say he could hear God in all types of music. I agreed with this because I often use songs as prayer - especially when I'm too emotional for my own words. However, it didn't seem possible to hear God in Polka music, lol. I started listening a little closer, and I suspect he was right.

I was a young girl when this song came out. It's always been my favorite, and brings a smile to my face when I hear it on the radio. It still brings me a little extra courage to keep on keeping on.

"Stand" - Sly and the Family Stone

Stand
In the end you'll still be you
One that's done all the things you set out to do
Stand
There's a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you're going anywhere
Stand
For the things you know are right
It's the truth that the truth makes them so uptight
Stand
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal
Stand. stand, stand
Stand. stand, stand
Stand
You've been sitting much too long
There's a permanent crease in your right and wrong
Stand
There's a midget standing tall
And the giant beside him about to fall
Stand. stand, stand
Stand. stand, stand
Stand
They will try to make you crawl
And they know what you're saying makes sense and all
Stand
Don't you know that you are free
Well at least in your mind if you want to be

Everybody
Stand, stand, stand

Here's another of my all-time favorites. It reminds me of my best friend, my dad, and God - none of whom I can see, but always know they are with me.

"To Sir With Love" - Lulu

Those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone
But in my mind I know they will still live on and on
But how do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume?
It isn't easy, but I'll try

If you wanted the sky I would write across the sky in letters
That would soar a thousand feet high 'To Sir, With Love'

The time has come for closing books and long last looks must end
And as I leave I know that I am leaving my best friend
A friend who taught me right from wrong and weak from strong
That's a lot to learn, but what can I give you in return?

If you wanted the moon I would try to make a start
But I would rather you let me give my heart 'To Sir, With Love'

Here's another one that has always kept my head up when storms passed. It's from the movie Carousel, but here's a scene from a Broadway play. It's better listened to than read. It's called "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Another one, a bit depressing but really nice musically with a good message (I think anyways)

Relient K - "For The Moments I Feel Faint"

Am I at the point of no improvement?
What of the death I still dwell in?
I try to excel, but I feel no movement.
Can I be free of this unreleasable sin?

[Chorus:]
Never underestimate my Jesus.
You're telling me that there's no hope.
I'm telling you your wrong.

Never underestimate my Jesus
When the world around you crumbles
He will be strong, He will be strong

I throw up my hands
"Oh, the impossibilities"
Frustrated and tired
Where do I go from here?
Now I'm searching for the confidence I've lost so willingly
Overcoming these obstacles is overcoming my fear

[Chorus]

I think I can't, I think I can't
But I think you can, I think you can
I think I can't, I think I can't
But I think you can, I think you can
Gather my insufficiencies and
place them in your hands, place them in your hands, place them in your hands

"Little Lamb Dragonfly" by Paul McCartney
(on the Red Rose Speedway album)

I have no answer for you, little lamb.
I can help you out.
But I cannot help you in.
Sometimes you think that life is hard,
And this is only one of them.

My heart is breaking for you, little lamb.
I can help you out.
But we may never meet again.

Dragonfly, fly by my window.
You and I still have a way to go.
Don't know why you hang around my door.
I don't live here any more.
Since you've gone I never know
How I go on
I miss you so.

Dragonfly, you keep me waiting.
You and I still have a way to go.
Dragonfly, you've been away too long.
How did two rights make a wrong?
Since you've gone I never know
How I go on
I miss you so.
In my heart I feel a pain.
It's coming back again.

Dragonfly, fly by my window.
When we try, we'll find a way to see.
Dragonfly, the years ahead will show
How little we really know.
Since you've gone it's never right.
I go on lonely nights.
No more hearts. Make it right.

My heart is aching for you, little lamb.
I can help you out.
But I cannot help you in.

Regards,
MS
