Louise, Gram, or Gammy, whatever you called her she was a very loving caring person. I only knew her for about eight years, but I learned a lot about her during that time. I learned that she was a great mother that raised three wonderful children and taught them to think of others before themselves. She was a wonderful grandmother, who whenever one of her grandchildren wanted something she was more than happy to get it for them. Most of all she was "The best Gammy in the world!!!!" As I wrote that the emotions started pouring back again. That quote comes from one of the sweetest three year olds I know (yes I know he is my son, but he has a big heart just like his sister and his mom). She will always be the best Gammy in the world. She was always willing to watch our children even when she was not feeling her best. I think she loved those kids more than I do. Pickles and Cheez-its, the lunch of choice for my daughter that Gammy was more than happy to feed to her (until my daughter got sick one night and threw everything up, NO MORE PICKLES!). Gammy's little man was well taken care of too, he spent many a night in Gammy's bed keeping her company or sitting in her chair with her watching tv. She spent so much time with our kids that all they ever talked about was going to Gammy's house. I learned that Gammy loved Harry Potter, she had every movie on DVD. I also learned that when the kids would get there she would change the channel from whatever show she was watching so they could watch cartoons. She loved sweets, so there was always an abudance of candy for our kids to get into, and then sent home with a sugar rush (but I would not have changed that for the world). Gammy opened her arms and welcomed me to the family when I married her only granddaughter seven years ago. She was and is an inspiration to me. She battled many an illness when she was with us, but it never got her down. When the kids got there she shined brighter than I have ever seen a person shine. Wednesday Gammy went to be with God. Yesterday she was laid to rest. For not knowing a person for as long as her family did, it really was hard for me to say goodbye to such a wonderful person. I know my wife is sad because like everyone she wanted that one last chance to say goodbye. We all know that Gammy is looking down on us from heaven and watching over the great-grandchildren that she loved so much, waiting till she can see them again with God. It is very hard to lose someone you love, even if you only knew them for a short time, but to know that she is in heaven with God makes it a little easier. We must all remember that Gammy knew how much everyone loved her and still loves her, and that she is watching over all of us right now. May God bless all of Gammy's family and friends. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

She sounds like a wonder woman, Dragon. All of you are the richer for having known her.
Now it's up to you and your wife to keep her alive in those children's heart. Make sure you go over their stories about her, even the pickles, (LOL) and keep those memories alive for them. That's the kind of "Gammy" I want to be... minus all the candy, though! ![]()
