Tonight I sent a prayer to a special person.

I had been reflecting.

I haven't spoken with the Lord much lately.

For a very long time I prayed and prayed and prayed to laugh again.

I felt so serious, so solemn, so sober.

It hurt to only feel gray and dull and lifeless.

This week, I've found myself giggling at every little moment.

While driving I'd laugh until tears rolled down my cheeks.

It felt so foreign, but the laughter took over.

I'd think of something and laugh out loud.

Or I'd laugh hysterically at something unexpected,

and people would wonder what was so funny. I couldn't explain why.

God sent me on my own path.

To learn how to create my own happiness.

To find the silliness.

The joy.

That old laugh.

And it dawned on me tonight.

God listened to my prayers ever so silently and patiently.

Almost as if He fell silent.

But He gave me a powerful gift:

Laughter.

The gift that heals even the most broken heart.

So I sat underneath the stars, and I thought how I could thank Him.

I prayed.

I thanked Him for his gift, and I paused.

I smiled.

I sent another prayer to Him.

"Keep an eye on him," I prayed, speaking to Him like an old friend, "He's been hurting."

I close my eyes and drew in with the breath the most powerful energy:

Happiness and joy.

I held the happiness and joy in my chest, then lifted my head and blew the energy into the stars and the Heavens.

I headed inside.

I got comfortable in the reclining chair and settled into my thoughts.

As soon as my mind wandered, I felt a sensation.

My heart began to stir, a soothing warmth began to radiate from it.

The warming sensation grew from deep in my chest,

A feeling of joy from my core, and I smiled.

My prayer had been delivered and received.

I thanked Him again, the feeling still inside me,

And I knew my special person has the guardianship of an angel tonight.

I love how you expressed how powerful a prayer can be. Prayer is not always this moving but sometimes it is. Especially when we are at our highest highs and our lowest lows. I have always loved how passionate you are about life LiteraryLark!!!

I hope your friend gets better/finds peace. The most powerful prayers are for people we deeply love.
