The important thing is to realize that there is a HUGE difference between your Heavenly Father and your earthly father.
Our Heavenly Father, He only wants the best for you, unlike those people in our lives who just like to step on us for the fun of it.
I can tell you from experience that learning to trust Him won't be easy...but it's certainly worth it!

My first direct contact with Our Great Father was from within the maximum-security section of a notorious Colorado prison. Because of my then undiagnosed bipolar 1 disorder, I entered a home unlawfully. I didn't do anything wrong and just sat there while the owner called the police. At trial, when the prosecutor asked, "Why did you enter that home?" All I could say was "I don't know. I really don't know." Now I know. I'd just previously had an automobile accident and was traumatized into a state of dissociative amnesia - which may have also been complicated by a bipolar episodic event as well. However, throughout the entire ordeal, and after two years of imprisonment, I came out stronger than ever in the love of God. I know that I'm supposed to share my bipolar experiences and attest to the healing powers of the Almighty so that others like me can find comfort and reassurance in Him and His Son.

Don't wanna make this a religious comment, but following the subject of this thread....

I wonder if we should think of God...or the Creator, or the Source, or whatever name you want to use...as "the Father". I know we pray to "Our Father who art in heaven".

However, God is spirit, androgynous, without gender. I don't see him as some guy with long white hair, sitting on a throne and floating around on a cloud somewhere. The image of the Creator given to us is really quite limiting to that which created us IMHO.
