Isaiah 45:22 Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
We can become so terribly confused, depressed and frustrated when we take our eyes off God. It is well understood that depression causes and is caused by one looking only at himself and all his woes, and all the troubling events in his life. We are all sinners, and thus, in our ownselves can do nothing "good." We won't get any other viewpoint if we continue to focus on ourselves. Turn your eyes to God. When we begin to or continue to focus only on God and His mercies, His power, His love, then our hearts and minds are no longer concerned with the worries of the world, of our lives. When we read His Word and study the things He tells us, we realize that He is sovereign, that all these things have a reason. He shows us that even the bad things that happen to us He can turn around for good, His good, our own good, if we but recognize this and petition Him and wait for His power to shine forth. Do you remember the story of Elijah and the juniper tree? 1 Kings 18 + Elijah, one of the greatest prophets of God, had just had a huge blessing and victory with calling fire down from heaven to burn up not only his water soaked wood, but all the evil prophets of Baal too. What a great testimony to God and His power and caring! But what happened? The news got to Jezebel, and she threatened the life of Elijah. Did Elijah look to God again? No. Instead, he went into the wilderness, and sat down under a juniper tree and asked that God would kill him instead. He looked inside, at his own shortcomings, through his own fear, and worried about his own future. Even, so, God did not abandon Elijah, but sent him an angel to minister to him. None of us is perfect, and none of us can maintain a healthy lifestyle (physically, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually) without keeping our eyes on God. ![]()
