a few weeks ago at my 'regular' re-check exam with my optometrist, he voiced some concerns about my vision symptoms not-really improving. but he and i have noticed (in our own ways) a small decline over the past few months.

today i was hit with a 'small bombshell' i didn't see coming. it is somewhat concerning when a doctor voices some concern over symptoms not improving (or even worsening). today, my B.I. doctor became the 2ND doctor! and they took it a little further, saying this [worsening vision symptoms] should not be happening!!!

having 2 separate medical doctors voicing concern about my small-amount-of-worsening visual symptoms is nerve-racking, and maybe a little terrifying!

and on the long drive back, what it me more was that i basically have no one to share this with. -> so i ended up on here ..........

two years ago when i 'started' on my brain injury recovery journey (i'll call it), my Aunt was there from the beginning. [and the only one who was/did] she was with me for the first five months -> 'helping' me thru in whatever way she could. but now she's watching from above

Hi jrae, that sounds upsetting. Did your doctor suggest a next step with regard to your vision examination?

Hi jrae, does it help to have faith in anything that things will improve? What has helped you in the past to get through difficult circumstances like these?

they didn't say much. i did give consent for my B.I. doctor to call my optometrist, so they could "pick his brain". i suppose they just want to hear his thoughts.

i see my optometrist on monday, so we will have a TON to discuss then. but i think we have both already come to the same conclusion (independently, which is funny).

i have been having regular (almost monthly) re-check exams with my optometrist for the past year and a half now. [about 21-months now i have been dealing with double vision issues] so any new or worsening vision related symptoms will be caught 'early', by either one of us.

@WastingAsparagus

good questions! not sure how to answer them

for me, the simple / basic things are what works best, i think. that's probably at least half due to my depression and length of time battling it. i am no longer able to look at the future. it's just day to day and week to week. because of that, i don't know if things will improve or not. it would suck if they didn't but it is as it will be. whether things improve or not, my faith will still be there!

next.... music is the sound of my soul and blood in my heart! roughly 22 years ago, i made the decision that i was only going to listen to Christian music - nothing else! and since i didn't live in a big city near Christian radio stations, my cd collection was born! it hasn't stopped over the years and is now up over 150!! Christian music plays in my head and i sing along! i believe there are reasons why i get random songs that pop into my head at various times. for example, a few months ago i woke up and had a song in my head that i hadn't heard in years (and it was over ten years old). the song was "He Will Carry Me" by Mark Schultz.
my faith through Christian music has been the only constant over the years!

and so if i combine the two, i get this 'voice' or tune in my head with a reminder just like the one from this song:
"take a breath, smile and say, right here right now i'm okay, because the cross was enough" !!
