I don't know much about Paganism. Is it like Wicca?

I am unaffilated with anything that could be called religion, but I am curious about different ones and would like to hear more about Paganism sometime.

Sometimes I just feel like I'm the only one...was just wondering is all...
Ah true Paganism is more deep rooted than the current Wiccan movement...I believe nothing is truly wrong though(but have been told I am wrong by other so called witches). |

Pagan is a group of religions and Wicca is just the best known by non-pagans and darling of the news media.
Don't you align with Kemeticism, TaintedGoth? __________________ "Never give a sword to a man who can't dance." ~Confucius |

A modern religion based upon the ancient Egyptian family of gods/goddesses and the concepts of Ma'at (all) and Netjer (the divine force). While many gods and goddesses are revered or acknowledged, the Kemetic religion is not polytheistic in the same sense that many other Pagan or Heathen religions are. In many sects of Kemetism, the concept is better described as a 'monolatry' or one god manifesting as many distinct personalities and divinities. Rituals and offerings are often elaborate and great value is placed upon both ancient texts and modern archeological discoveries and research.

That does sound like Hinduism, Druidism, and the religion of early Mesopotamia (I can't remember the name.) Then again, many of these religions are interconnected in origin, so it's not that surprising.

Oh wow...is that the biggest misconception in the whole world!!!! Magic is neither black or white. It's all in the person and how they use it.

hmm my grandfather practiced both white magic and black magic. I am told he could heal people. And he could put spells/curses on people.
My father got into it a bit with grandfather's books but something scared him and he stopped doing it. My oldest brother got into the same stuff. And something scared him big time and he stopped doing the part that scared him.. |

i think it is very interesting that all people, regardless of their belief, produce a form of magic as they go about their daily, normal activities.. it is in the energy we give to this or that task.. the affect we leave behind as we move through our average daily life... some are only more aware than others imo...

I only ask because I am curious. I know very little about this stuff. Maybe I am curious because I want to learn about what my grandfather did. Family only touches the surface with hints of the dark areas. Isn't a "big deal". I don't even believe in this stuff.

I agree - it is how it is used that is benificial or not - not that there is black or white majick or good vs the dark arts. It is the choices people make as they utilize it. If the intention is to harm - there you go. Like in Wiccan, "harm none" is the first tenant.
And really, all peoples of all faiths have had power - and wielded power - and at times used their power for bad purposes. ALL RELIGIONS. Often in the name of their gods or God. __________________ Credits: ChildlikeEmpress and Pseudonym for this lovely image. alt="Universal Life Church | ULC" border="0"> |

That's very true, Kiya, and I find it very sad.
I myself am Christian, but I love to learn about all faiths, because I believe you shouldn't just dismiss something without even finding out about it. __________________ As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being. -Carl Gustav Jung |
