Hello, My daughter is a teacher doing her first year of teaching Special Education in a High School. She doesn't even have certification yet so she's getting an alternative certificate.

She happened to land an almost impossible job - for her. She feels under-skilled and overwhelmed. Her two aides are in a power struggle with her and Sarah feels unable to care for the students as well as she would like and is breaking down in tears daily before and after and sometimes in between times in school. I do not know why this job is causing her to fall apart, but it is.

Please, any of you who believe in prayer, would you ask God to show her what her real problem is here and show her how to handle the job or release her to quit and seek another job. She is new and her two aides are in a power struggle to control the classroom. It looks like a no-win. Either stay and be miserable each day or quit - something she hates to do.

Thank you, I've been trying to help her deal with this difficult start to teaching and she's in real trouble here. She wants to teach very much and hates the idea of failing this first job.

((((Muffy))))

Thanks for the prayer help. I've never seen my daughter so upset, ever. She worked 4 summers as a counselor at a summer camp for special needs kids/adults and 24/7 there was nothing like the stress she feels here. I' m just not sure what is making her "lose" it this way. I feel so helpless to help my sweet child. I appreciate your post so much!!

My mother has been a special education teacher for about 25 years, and the first few years are usually pretty tough, especially if you've never had full responsibility as one does in a teacher position. I've worked as an aide in a summer session full of kids with moderate to severe needs, and I think she probably needs some adjustment time, it can be very difficult work. I'll pray for her.
Thanks for this!

(((((((((multipixies and Sarah)))))))))) what a wonderful mother you must be to have raised such a caring daughter! You can feel your pain for her and your desire for her to come to the right decision. She is in my prayers, as are you. Pass this on to her when you next see her:

Hi Leslie

Aw, bless her heart. I can imagine the addition of "office politics" would make a hard job even more difficult. Still, there's no guarantee she won't have to face that type of struggle wherever she goes. I hope she can find a way to stay out of that struggle, keep her nose clean (not stoop to their level), and focus on the kids.

This might be an opportunity for her to grow some thick skin. Thick skin is an asset in that field. If she can endure the abuse long enough to gather some real skill and experience, she might have some funny stories to tell later on about the power hungry people she used to work with - and how she avoided their attempts to destroy her dreams.
Thanks for this!

((((pixie & daughter)))))))

teaching the children is such an important task and she is having concerns of performing well.. i can remember having such fears and still do often about matters similar in ways... i pray daughter finds balance and grounding each day, each moment, using her passion to do well as an energy source each day to propel herself forward with kind gentle patience for herself as she performs each task... i pray daughter will locate within her the steel force of determination and provide an atmosphere not only for herself of loving and giving, but an area safe for all others concerned... i pray she will do this compassionately and with earnest sincerity to help our children create a kind world for themselves... i pray the aides understand the importance of this calling and combine their shared talents for the good of the children first and most importantly... as a team they have the skills needed to accomplish this important job... i pray for the administrative teams that back up and support your daughter, her aides, and her students alike... may good blessings always lighten the doorways of your institution... in Spirits name, amen...
Thanks for this!
