Everyone in Ikes path are in my thoughts and prayers.

I've got some family in the path also. So I've been watching things closely. So much so, I havent done much of anything else.

I just hope these poor people will be ok . So scarey seeing all the damage .

Thanks Muffy - will do. I hope you're okay.

I still haven't heard from my friend outside of New Orleans after hurricane Gustov. He's old and ornery (lol), and has a dog with the same temperament - so he decided to stay put. Have you heard from Chalmette?

Haven't heard from my friend in Houston yet, but it's still early. I spoke with my sister in Austin, and she says many of the evacuees are there and being cared for well. Some of the hospitals that were evacuated along the coast were able to relocate those patients to the Austin hospitals by ambulance, but that's a little hard for me to believe. It would take a LOT of ambulances to evacuate an entire hospital and transport patients using the standard method. Maybe some good-hearted volunteers were able to transport the less critical patients, and I hope the ride wasn't too bumpy. I can't imagine any patient being prepared emotionally or physically for a spur-of-the moment "road trip" while sick or after surgery.

We've got rain and extreme humidity here in Chicago, and the forecast for rain and storms extends a few more days. When it rains, it also rains in my laundry room and family room on each side of the house - due to the leaky roof. I suspect our foundation may be cracked and pipes effected - our bathroom has a very strong mold smell during heavy rains. To top it off, I have quite a few visitors who decided to come in from the rain - spiders, big ones. I used to be terrified of them, but got over my fear. Lately, though, they have REALLY been testing me.

For those of you concerned with relatives in Chicago, our emergency crews are pretty good here, and we are VERY neighborly when it comes to disasters. I hope you hear from your relatives soon.
