As I rolled up to the barrier of the parking lot before you get to the beach, the sound of the ocean took my breath away. I hadn't realized it had been so long since I'd seen the ocean. The light from the half moon and the lights of the fairgrounds were reflected on the caps of the gentle waves.

Again, the tought struck me as it has in the past that we only see such a small part of the ocean. It brought back the words that George B Shea spoke on his recording of "The Love of God." He starts out saying "standing on the shore we see only a little of the ocean, but out there, there's more. We only see a little of God's love here but out there... there's more... there's more." As I pondered these words, I felt assured that God loves me so much more than I deserve. He's proven it to me over and over. I know that I haven't yet experienced all of the love that He holds for me. Before I knew it, the tears were rolling down my cheeks and I felt an overwhelming awe that took my breath away. The words of the song started playing in my head... "The love of God is greater far tan tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell." I couldn't remember any more of the words although I know them all by heart.

To look at that ocean... and the sky... and know that God's love for us is even greater than what I could see... All I could do was thank God but it wasn't enough. There's more... there's more that I can do in return.

Makes you feel pretty darn insignificant, doesn't it and you wonder "why?". I've also learned to now question love. Watching the ocean tonight

I know exactly what you mean by feeling insignificant in the grand scheme of things when looking at something so beautiful and so large....I get the same feelings when I am in Scotland...looking out over the hills and lochs. But that small feeling is really a good one ya know? It kind of puts me in my place and reminds me that maybe my problems aren't as huge as I thought they were Watching the ocean tonight

Today, I made myself sit down and type out the words of the hymn "Oh Love of God". I checked them against the lyrics on the net. Here are some more of the words:

Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

I can imagine how you felt when you remembered that God loves you. We do know that he loves us, but in the middle of this hectic life, with all the burdens, the changes and the high speed of life, we forget...
But isn't is amazing how we feel loved for the first time in our lives ever, just when we notice that God loves us? It feels like we just found out, wihch makes us happier than we would have been if we hadn't forgotten his love on the way.
I think that this is the whole point, we're sinners, incomplete, we forget, so that when we remember, we feel reborn and blessed, and if we hadn't forgotten, we would have taken his love and forgiveness for granted.
God bless you.
