So often I pray in my human way of understanding that the hard stuff of life will just be removed and I ask God to make me well, solve my problems, provide whatever I need or want, and that's okay. God wants us to come to Him with everything that troubles us; all of our needs. But oftentimes, the very things we pray to be removed from our lives are the very things He's using to make us the kind of people He wants us to be... prefect in the end:
"When I saw what lay before me, 'Lord,' I cried, 'what will you do?' I thought He would just remove it but He gently led me through. Without fire, there's no refining. Without pain, no relief. Without flood, there's no rescue. Without testing, no belief." -- Guy Penrod

Love this post!
How hard that very thing was for me to begin to understand in the beginning of my spiritual journey. One thing I have come to learn is that the bigger the storm weathered, the bigger His rewards. God has never failed to see me through. Often times, I was so weak I know I would have never made it alone. These are the times that He not only saw me through, but He carried me. OH! How I thank Him for that! I could never thank Him enough! |

It's been my experience that the statements hold true. When I was first beginning my journey through psychology, in the office of a group of therapists, there was a big picture on the wall when you first walked in. It was a picture of the ocean with rock formations that seemed to have you penned in. Only one had a hole in it. It looked like an arch. Below the picture, the words were inscribed:
<font color="blue">"The only way out is THROUGH"</font> That is SO true! I'm like you. I know that God will take me through. If I can't go any longer, then He'll carry me through. ![]()

Very true. Be careful what you pray for, because you just might get it. If you pray for humility, prepare to be humbled. If you pray for courage, get ready to face your fears. If you pray for gratitude, expect an experience to help you appreciate what you have. The traits and qualities that we long for don't come easily, but will come when we are ready. And He will help us, but it will require effort on our part. He never said it would be easy. He only said that it would be worth it.
