Whether we agree with our leaders or not, we are still supposed to pray for them and lift them upto God. Which is what people all across the world should do...pray!

Count me in! The future does seem scary, but God can move in mighty ways!

Makes me worry about so many things and I can't stop thinking about them.

Being retired and being on a fixed income doesn't give one any sense of security. We've noticed for the last 4 or 5 months that we can't make it from month to month and neither of us can earn any money, even if there were jobs to be had! The only son I don't worry about is the one in Oregon. He just bought a house! How did he do that?? My oldest son has the most to loose. I don't want to think about it but I can't stop!! Maybe we need to say a little prayer for me, too?

I give thanks for our government and
I pray for all men and women having authority over us in any way.

Cause our leaders to be men and women of integrity and obedient concerning us
so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life.

Let wisdom rule their hearts and knowledge and mercy be pleasing to them.
Let discretion preserve them and understanding keep them,
to deliver them from any destruction.

Heal our land.......all the nations represented here.

Maybe we need to do something different than worry
something positive & accomplished
perhaps form groups in our communities
starting small. Focus on one issue,
that would begin to change lives around.

hi september morn,
i couldn't help but reply. i have worried about the same things and have been praying about this for several months. i have worried about people less fortunate than me even though i''m on a fixed income too. i don't see how young families can manage to get through this. yes we need to pray. in the future you can believe i'm going to be even more diligent too about those yo-yo's in washington and their lack of taking responsiblity for the bad decisions they make for the people of america.
i've even talked about leaving the country to live in a remote area away from all of this. i'm fed up!!! and scared too....

Do something like what, Holmes? Didn't the former President Bush try to establish his "points of light"? I don't see where that happened! People are too selfish, too self-involved now-a-days to be motivated to anything like that.

Somewhere it was said that if there was one righteous man that would pray, God would change things. There was a big group of righteous people praying before the election. I don't see where anything changed or will change.

I know, he hasn't had a chance to do anything yet, but I have no faith in politicians anymore. They tell you want they think you want to hear and then have their hands bound by Congress and what those idiots want is what happens.

It's going to take a miracle on a large scale to save this old world. Not sure I'm ready for the alternative.

MadisGram, my youngest son is a country boy through and through. He's taken trips by mule into the back country. He's mentioned that if the "ship hits the sand", he'd be ready to move into that back country in a heartbeat. Don't think I haven't given that idea some serious thought! Only thing is, I'd have to be dropped in by helicopter. Ain't no way I'd ride a mule on some of those paths that have just enough footing for that mule with a sheer cliff on one side!!

I'm just about ready to move deep into Nowhere Land! No TV, no phones, no radio, no computer. Just plain basics!

I'd like to remind the original poster and all posting here that this thread was created for general prayer.

Any discussion/specific comments of politics (or politicians) should go into PM, on a blog or in another appropriate setting.

Thanks!

All I'm saying is that Holmes idea has already been put out there. Right off the top of my head, I can't think of any "points of light" that got started.

Maybe the general public's self-serving attitude is something we need to pray about, too. The general public thinks they are "entitled" but no one except the government is giving out entitlements and the money has run out.

Something that sounds so simple and small, like prayer....is one of the most powerful tools we as people have! Pray and pray somemore!

So many of us out there in need of help in some fashion or other. Praying for our governments and world leaders and each person that they are to represent, this something we all can do. And I believe God can move in miraculous ways if we all call out in one accord for His help.

Thanks for this!

One of the Greek philosophers said something along the lines of "It's better to light one candle than to curse the darkness."

With so much looking so wrong it is easy to become gripped by fear. Standing on the earth at a grand total of 5 1/2 feet height, it looks sort of bleak. But God stands infinitely small and infinitely tall. He sees the real overall picture and knows how to handle all this rotten stuff going on and all these personal worries. The faith book I read says that God will take care of us and even notices when sparrows fall to the ground. I'd like to encourage you to think about the big-ness of God rather than the big-ness of your problems.

No matter what changes in the affairs of mankind God is an enduring foundation to all who seek Him.

I will pray for the overall situation and your personal ones too. (((September Morn)))

Leslie, I think it was a moment of weakness that gripped me when I made the original post. I had just read the thread about the three major car manufacturers being in so much financial trouble, I see the economy sliding into the toilet and I panicked for a bit.

I've been doing a lot of praying and I've come to some conclusions of why I'm being weakened by anxiety. That suggested to me that I pray in a different way. My plan is to do something about those things I can do something about and put the rest in God's hands and let Him handle it. It may not quite suit me the way He handles it, or the expectation of it, but there's no argument with His infinite wisdom.

Everyone that reads this, please pray that the seed I plan on sowing on Sunday falls on fertile ground.

tomi, we are all gripped by moments, hours and even longer periods of anxiety or fear. i am glad you recover your faith quickly and can press back into the comfort of God.

however, this post will be there for others who may not yet have such faith and trust in God.

i have some pretty serious struggles with fear right now myself, so please do not think this post of mine was intended in ANY way to criticise you OR to minimize the problems facing our world.

leslie

It sounds to me like one of us is missing something here. I'm not sure what it is. But rather than start a debate, I'm going to drop it here.

Like I said before, it's in God's hands, of course, but I may not like the way He deals with it. Let's call it "the sings of the times." It's the anticipation of what may or may not happen. Period, the End.

This is as much for me as it is for anyone else out there that may be in the grip of fear or anxiety.

The Anchor Holds

I have journeyed
Through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea
By faith alone
Sight unknown
And yet His eyes were watching me

The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees
As I faced the raging seas
The anchor holds
In spite of the storm
Ive had visions
Ive had dreams
Ive even held them in my hand
But I never knew
They would slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand

I have been young
But I am older now
And there has been beauty
That these eyes have seen
But it was in the night
Through the storms of my life
Oh, thats where God proved
His love to me

And then there's:

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from it's sunshine,
For it's skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what He said,
And today I'll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

I don't know about tomorrow
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I'm covered with His hand.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

Sometimes that old devil just makes you forget these words of faith, ya know?
