For those who have wondered...

My mom will not be having the heart surgery that she needs. They say she's too weak for it. She went into the hospital a week ago with congestive heart failure. They're putting a "shock" vest on her and sending her to a nursing home for some rehab. (They failed to get her out of bed this whole time so she can't even stand up at all, from muscle weakness.) At least she'll be around a lot of people at Christmas. I think she's being moved there in the morning.

I feel like I've been forgotten here at PC. I know some of you are just so busy this time of year. Please take care of yourselves!

Thank you ((((Susan))) for relaying a message for me last week.

Thank you all so much!

Mom is in a nursing home until rehab can get her up and walking safely with the walker. Seems the hospital (and my nurse sister) "forgot" to get her out of bed the week she was in there. doh. She's wearing a vest that will notice and shock her heart should it stop or get out of kilter (Scottish term.)

I am all but out of the pain flare. Hydrotherapy helped immensely. (Reminds me why I had had a whirlpool at home for so many years previous.)

I met a lady who is also on her second service dog. Though total strangers, we hugged and cried over our now gone first ones. But I do have Caleb. If you go see the new movie Marley and Me, his markings are just the same. I hope to go see it with Caleb on Christmas day. (no where else to go)

I do realize how busy everyone is here at holiday time. If it isn't the increased busyness that holidays bring, it's the stress of what "should" be or family etc...or it's both and more. It just isn't a good time for me to have had a pain flare and needing support. lol But just like I told my MD (who wouldn't see me as a walk-in and insisted I needed to make an appt (this when she is 6 months out on appts.) I just haven't quite developed the knack of SCHEDULING my pain flares!!!

((( Sky ))) You could never be forgotten here.

I'm sorry to hear of your Mom's health issues and hospitalization. I hope where she is going that they take loving care of her and help her get stronger.

How are you doing? Last I heard you were having more than the usual pain flares and I have been thinking of you.

..sorry, I read your update after posting. Thanks and I hope you continue to feel much better every day!

Hi Sky,

For some odd reason these past three days Im running into people who's mothers are very ill or who they have just lost.

I can see where you would feel concerned and conflicted by her being to weak for surgery yet they were not getting her out of bed to help her get stronger.

The Docs must have experience with this though. I do hope she will be able to have the surgery in the future . If not Sky . Enjoy your time with her.

Thinking of you this day.

Patricia

I visited Mom today and once again, she looks great. As soon as she's able to use a walker on her own again, she will go home. IDK but God keeps her bouncing back.

Thank you for all your prayers and concerns.

I don't tend to become bogged down with grief or sorrow over her failing health. She is a Christian as I am, and knows when she does die she leaves this earthly world for a far better place with no illness etc. I believe that Christ took all our sorrows upon Him that day on the cross. I do tend to become overwhelmed with other people expecting me to do things or handle things and also to do them on their time schedule, which I don't or can't do. Once I step back and stop, I do fine.

The cooler weather we had recently helped to break my pain flare. The nerves go haywire with the hotter temperatures (though the muscles love it, thus the whirlpool helps them.)

It appears to me that I am having more pain flares than usual, but they are much more manageable overall.
