It was a hit and run and our dog is left with a broken front leg and a compound fracture of the back leg, she will need two lots of surgury and pins in her back leg with a metal support/cradle on her leg as the skin is split and they are scared of it getting infected.

Her chest was hit too and is brusied and affecting her breathing so they cant opperate untill they see that correct itself which hopefully it will do.

They gave us the option of having her put down but we said NO.

All this and she is just seven months old and no idea what is going on, please please pray for her.

We are so so upset all of us as a family I am surprised at how upset even the children are as they are so young.

I will pray for her, as I do any animal in such pain..

I hope that she makes a swift recovery *cuddles you gently*

Then I'm sure she will get through it. Labradors are strong willed, physically strong animals. I hope she does get through it. My thoughts are with you

So sorry to hear about your dog. Do you live in a rural or urban area? I've found that what happened to your dog is more likely to happen in urban areas than rural. I'm glad you didn't put her down-no sense in that with her being only 7 months old. Her youth will help in her fight to heal. I had a black lab too so I know what wonderful dogs they are.
I understand also how traumatic this can be for your kids-pets are family&often kids find animals to be their best friends.
Luckily you found her before she had time to get hit again&were able to get her to the vet soon after the accident. I don't understand people who don't stop after they've hit an animal-how can you not know you've hit something?
Hope you&your family are doing well as can be expected&that your pooch gets better soon-thankfully she wasn't killed!
PS. What is her name? I'll include her in my prayers for all animals that I do-I love St Francis of Asissi even though I'm not Catholic-he's the patron saint of animals. He'll be watching over her.

dear tishie,

i am so sorry your puppy was hurt badly. i know God loves animals very much and is concerned for your lab and for your family and especially your children. i will pray you can find the money to pay for surgery and that the dog pulls through well and recovers quickly. i pray your family has peace in their hearts in all this difficulty and sadness and worry. gentle hugs,

leslie and her pixies

Her name is Lola, we live in a rural area I was out in the field with her and our other dog when she just ran off towards the road, we think she saw a rabbit or a cat we dont know we are only guessing. I called and called but both dogs ignored me and thats when it happend.

It was six am and very dark, I couldnt see her as she is black so I panicked and ran into my husband who grabbed the big torch as I only had the small one and he found her.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes.

I have just got back from seeing her at the vets, she seems calm and out of pain, she has a cast on her front leg and a stiff bandage on her hind leg, the bandage is on to protect it till they operate tomorrow (friday) afternoon.

It was upsetting to see her but everyone there is fussing her as she is so cute so is not missing us too much, I hope.

Oh ((((Tishie)))),,,I'm so sorry...

I have never met a dog I didn't like and most I have loved.

I know how you feel...such profound concern and that mixing in of shame and regret...Please know that it was not your fault and she would never blame you...it ain't in them...

I too live in a rural world with many potential tragedies. I have never placed much importance on the teaching of tricks to dogs...though they do spend time teaching me some......but I have spent countless hours trying to teach them to survive...

I have Goldens and the only thing I think they might Love more than me is water..I have a four acre pond in my property that migrating foul use quite regularly...some never leave...Also we have a few other local residents..gators......

I could kill them but I won't...they have rights too and as long as you understand them,,respect them and give them what they know is theirs,,no trouble..

Well teaching that to a 2 year old 100 lb. Golden who thinks all water foul are meant to bond with him...is a task of immeasureable difficulty...

But we did it...together we came to an understanding. The gators, ratlers, occasional hunters and cars...they are the enemies we must avoid to survive.

So far,,so good.

I will keep you and yours in my prayers..

Lenny

I went to see her today ! She had her op yesterday and today is standing up and eating and drinking ! Amazing I am stunned lol so so happy ! She cried when she saw me and cried when I left but is doing very well and coming home for a few days either Monday or Tuesday, then back in to be sedated while they change her dressing.

Thank you all so much for your prayers.....
Thanks for this!
