I went to church today. Do you ever feel that the message fits you so well that it was written just for you? Maybe that is true. Maybe a preacher writes a message without realizing tha there is going to be someone listening that needed just that message.... maybe God calls them to that scripture?

Anyhow, I have been living in the past and tormented by my regrets and failures. Just last night I was so overcome by it all that I broke down and felt there was nothing I could do to fix my broken success. The message today (I do not recall the scripture verse at the moment) was about looking to the future. When you commit to Christ's team your past is no longer a chapter in your life's book. Your life is changed and all you need do is look toward the future. I need to stop obsessing over my mistakes and concentrate on my, hopefully, brighter future.

yes, you can even write your past and the severity of it, the 'chapter' out, then rip it UP this is very freeing. God creates you, a new you, when you are born of Him. A new, unique and special person, for TODAY is the first day of the rest of your life!! Yes today's message was meant for you, I feel it!!!

Hallie, how true! Having been in the ministry I can assure you that the latter (God calls them to that scripture/message) is true! In fact, there are times when a minister learns about something in someone's life and plans on preaching about it ,and God says,"No."

Your perspective from this message is a good one. It is not God who brings up our past (whether recent past or distant past.) If we have acknowledged to Him we needed to do better, and ask His help, we have it and He forgets the event! It is the dark side that brings it up again and again to defeat us. God has already forgotten the item.

May you continue to draw closer to God and realize His total love and forgiveness, mercy and grace.

Hi Hallie,

Sorry I just only happen to open this one and read it and decide to reply. One tip for getting replies is to write it on the title that you needed one. I am sorry but it is impossible for me to reply to all posts. I only open them on instinct or basing on the title.

Anyway, when I click on the links you posted here, it lead me to facebook invite a friend page. Are you hoping that people could link up with you in facebook or reply to this post or both?

You say - "When you commit to Christ's team your past is no longer a chapter in your life's book." - Does that mean that it can only happen if one is in Christ's team?

In my personal spiritual experience, God is everywhere, in every religion and he speaks to me in coded messages that came from various sources. His words touches me deeply, I feel His Love and His Guidance. Sermon is not the only way that I experienced it though it had happened many times. The only way that I know that could make that happen is an OPEN HEART. An open heart to wanting to be a better human, to heal from our past, to love humanity, to walk this earth with integrity and dignity.

Embrace UNITY. Let there be no walls between race, culture and religions and even God(s). True love has no boundaries.
