The last time I was in the hospital the Doctor told me I was BP with schizo affective disorder. What does that mean? I understand the BP. All the doctor said was that it meant I was seeing things and hearing voices.

Hi Lost Lamb. I hope you are doing better now.
I see you have Depression down as your current diagnosis. Could the bipolar symptoms have show up to the hospital staff in some form of high energy or possibly a bad reaction to antidepressant medication? You can hear voices and see things when in a bipolar episode (manic or depressive). Doctors may consider the possibility of Schizoaffective Disorder if they see evidence of the psychosis hanging around outside of mood episodes. Sometimes mood incongruent hallucinations and well developed delusions can be considered signs of a thought disorder rather than a mood disorder, but there seems to be some disagreement among theorists about that too. Hope that helps a bit. ![]()

Just as tsunami says... Schizoaffective implies that you have noteworthy psychotic experiences outside of a mood episode, be it the depressive type or bipolar type. Hopefully you are doing better now & have a better understanding of your diagnosis.
