My doctor diagnosed me with schizoaffective bipolar type. My psychotherapist says I should be one or the other - schizoaffective or bipolar. I guess it should not matter much, I'd probably be taking the same meds anyway.

Does anybody know or heard about this situation?

Schizoaffective bipolar type is a correct diagnosis. Schizoaffective diagnosis states you have a thought disorder as well as a mood disorder. Stating that you have bipolar type just states what kind of mood disorder you have in addition to your thought disorder.

Hope this clears up any confusion.
