I have noticed that there are very seldom any new posts in the schizoaffective forum. Is that because there aren't many that are schizoaffective, or does everyone post in schizophrenia forum or elsewhere? It has confused me a little. I know that I have seen post in the schizophrenia forum that I can relate to. Same with Depression, Anxiety and a few others. Just wondering.

I have just been trying to find all the information I can about schizaffective. I was a bipolar so long that I knew a lot about it. But when my Pdoc changed my diagnosis I was stunned. Had never even heard of it. I have been having all these same symptoms since I was young(12 or 13) and was just now diagnosed schizoaffective, but from what I have read so far my new doc is right on the money with it. Still, I want to know what causes it. Is it genetic? Can you pass on the schizo or the mood disorder alone? My son was diagnosed bipolar when he was 10, but he has alot of same symptoms that I have.

Psychiatry says schizophrenia is partly genetic and I think that can also be the same for mood disorders like bipolar/depression.

I can link you up with some websites regarding the schiz- side of things.

http://www.schizophrenia.com/

heres something specific on genetics.

Thank you so much. I am getting all the info I can downloaded to my computer, then I can make a list of questions for my doc. The first being where can I find a good therapist.
