i have been diagnosed with bipolar with psychosis by one doctor but diagnosed schizoaffective by another hospital and i cant seem to get a straight answer from anyone on what the difference if there in one on the two. i do have major mood swings, like hourly my moods are changing. i have little to no emotions what so ever, except for for my partner, which even then sometimes i have a hard time with feelings there, i have audio and visual hallusinations, thats just a few of my symptoms i know im not asking for a diagnosis from anyone but just what is the difference between the two. or are they basiscally the same thing?

Well my understanding Schizoaffective bipolar is when you have psychotic symptoms outside of mood symptoms. With bipolar psychosis you only have psychotic symptoms during a mood cycle like during mania.
I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective but since I've been off meds for so long it's all leveled out into mood cycles so I really don't see a difference at all. I would probably be re-diagnosed with bipolar psychosis if I saw a doctor at this point.
Also mood swings can be caused by other mood disorders too, just sayin. the system is not perfect. it's really all a ********e mess.
