So I began care under a pdoc in Oct 2008, he gave me a dx of psychotic disorder NOS and later (Jan 2010) added depression. I moved in Aug. 2010 back to my hometown, but out of fear at another pdoc adding more medication chose to drive the 90 minutes one way to see my original pdoc. In June 2011, I started seeing a psychologist for theapy. She was supportive of my not wanting to change pdocs and other issues. Finally in Dec. 2011, I decided it was time to find a pdoc closer to home, so I started looking. I was able to find one and got an appointment in Jan 2012. This pdoc re-dx me as schizoaffective, but decided he agreesd with the meds my other pdoc had me on. I disagreed with the new dx, as did my t, she liked the NOS the old pdoc said better. It's taken almost a year, but I am finally able to accept the new dx. I figure it is just a dx and doesn't define who I am as a person.

that's great to hear, as long as it helps you move on. i don't put much emphasis on my diagnosis. I try to live every day trying to help myself with whatever i need, cope the best i can. my attitude is deal with symptoms. I used to reseacrh a lot to try and understand my illness, but not anymore... just trying to flip the cards i've been dealt into whatever i can.
