I started taking Paxil the fall of 1999. I was 17 & I had taken illegal dugs, but not prescription meds. I started having wierd experiences, stong ecperiences. It was like a powerful nitrous oxide 'trip' when I would wake up. Loud wa wa wa wa wa, if you know what I mean. Very similar to deja vu, so I was sent to a psyc doc.

The psyc doc started to label me as major depressive & told me to not smoke pot anymore. The really strange things started to happen around this time. I was followed by someone who used to come to my work as a costumer. This person followed me across town & was taking pictures of me with friends at a friends house. We were all outside & other people there saw him taking pictures. The US Army was also coming to this place I worked at, trying real hard to recuit me into psycological warfare.

I was into illegal drugs at the time & started to use nitrous oxide on occasion. I had the most amazing trips when I would use nitrous. I even felt like I was dying once, travelling to a realm of tree's & sunshine.

Anyways, I ended up in the funny farm after experimenting with overdosing. There was a pretty girl there close to my age. She said that she was there because she smoked a pcp laced joint. She came after I was there for awhile & spoke of mafia people. She was Italian American & said her parents where both career Army for a long time. She lied & said to other kids when I wasn't around, that she had my phone #.

They diagnosed me as bi-polar with psychotic features at that first stay at the farm. I went on stronger drugs & went to another hostpital the fall of 2000. I moved into a friends apartment & was on really strong meds.

The strange stuff started happening again. A friend we will call brian started saying people could be watching us. It didn't make sense so I ignored him. The summer of 2001, I had my won apatment in the back of this building. It was above a pizza shop & I couldn't care less about them. The summer of '01, Brian started to visit from Ashville NC. He would say strange things such as "the walls have ears" & that he knew certain people where coming over.

Well, it does sound a bit "off." Since you have bipolar disorder, then you might want to share your story there. I don't know what is going on with your friend. It sounds like he needs to talk to a doctor, too. Paranoia can be a symptom in a number of disorders.
