I was diagnosed schizoaffective several years ago and up until recently was doing fairly well while taking my medication and therapy. A few months ago my insurance carrier decided they no longer wanted to pay for my anti-psychotic injection so I've been off of it. I have been having auditory/visual hallucinations and recently a bout of severe depression. My doctor has just gotten approval for a new injection however I'm nervous because I've never had this shot before. She assures me it's similar to my old one. I've had bad side affects from anti-psychotics in the past and really don't wish to go through it again. The new injection is called Invega. Has anyone heard of it or used it before?

Invega has been around for awhile. I took the pill form. it knocked me out and I couldn't function for 18 hours. apparently this is not a common side effect. I am really sensitive to meds. I recommend trying it once when you don't have to do anything for a day or two afterward. take care.

I took the pill form as well. No side effects other than it stopped my periods.

I took the pill form but had to stop due to a side effect of severe, severe headaches.

Invega works well for me, but I'm taking the pill form of it. It keeps me stable and I don't really have many side effects at all. It makes me a little sleepy is all.

Invega is the active form of the drug risperidone...if you were on risperidone shots before it's basically the same chemical but already metabolized so the effects should be the same for you.
