IDK, I went off meds and now I'm taking them at the normal half dose I was prescribed. ABILIFY affects my short term memory severely. I can tell because after a week I had visual memories come flooding back in that I couldn't recall before. But I'm lacking clarity. I also believe an antique violin of mine was switched at the store I tried to get it repaired at because it had a different label on the inside but no one believes me and my dad said I was delusional. This triggered me a lot because I was certain I had read the date and label out loud with the man I dropped it off with and who wanted to trade it in for 695 dollars now I'm told it's worth three times less. The type I THINK I had might have been worth over $3,000 if I had known and taken pictures I would be sure.

I am less suicidal when I take Abilify because I'm too doped up to care. I'm also labelled with schizoaffective bipolar adhd and ....I'm on same-day sick for missing a couple appointments during a blizzard. So I can only go there at 8 am before 8 patients or first come first serve and only on a Tues. Is that fair??

Unfortunately you could be right regarding the violin and that wouldn't be fair because no one would believe you and think that you are paranoid. As to the abilify you might want to tell your psychiatrist the problems you're having with it. I've gone through over 20 medications that weren't right for me and worked it out with my psychiatrist. Hopefully you'll find some help for you soon. I'm also schizoaffective bipolar type and PTSD.

I agree with worthit, you need to tell your psychiatrist how abilify is affecting you. It's possible that you might need a different anti psychotic.

Sweet, I have issues similar to yours and over the course of many years I have taken a ton of meds for them. I was on abilify for a long time. I thought it was helping me because I was "less crazy." But then when I went off it I realized it had stolen my life. I had been so numbed out from it that I was not really a part of the world. It's been years since I've been off it but I still can't remember much about my life while I was on it. The things I remember are like factual events that don't have any emotions attached to them. I regret that I took the abilify for such a long time because it stole a part of my life that I'll never get back. Maybe it won't affect you as bad as it did me. But, I've had better luck with other APs. Right now I'm on Latuda and its working really well for me. I hope you can work this out---but, just be aware of your emotions/memories so you don't accidentally lose part of your life like I did. Good Luck. .......D.

Agree with you guys about the huge amount of meds , I have been on everything except geodon my doc won't even use that due to the sedaive affect but I am on 600 of seroquel but i finally don't get so tired from that. I too take abilify and have developed short term memory problems, i didn't know that was a side effect but will bring it up at my appt on Friday. We are going to make a change to saphris I think and try to stop the seroquel, it is up to me and I don't remember what it was like on saphris before so I;m not sure what to think.
I am schizoaffective with psychosis, PTSD, MMD(I THINK MMD is still in my diagnosis).
I'm so sorry about the violin, I get so frustrated when ppl look at me like I don't know what i said or what they did, I have a great memory. You want to tell them to brighten up . And clarity I have trouble with that because of the drugs anyway. I am really going to get off the abilify it sounds like I might be able to get some life back. I have such a dim view of my past.
I will be back this is an interesting thread.
Peace, Sami

Tamster, Remember to eat food with Saphris. It ate up my stomach despite eating something.
