I am afraid of my thoughts
I fear them as they were real
Non in particular just an overwhelming fear that my thoughts can hurt me
Does anyone else experience this?

hurt you physically? or metaphorically speaking? since over-thinking about a particular thought can potentially be damaging... you say "as though they were real"; are you confused as to if you're actually thinking them? or if what you were thinking really happened or may happen if you think it? just trying to make sure i understand where you are coming from, don't mean to ask so many questions.

It started in my teens and twenties
I feared thoughts of people touching me, when I hit 30 I remember saying what the heck are you going to do to me in not afraid of you anymore, that's when it stopped
Now when I get the feelings of people touching me they are just annoying and eventually go away
But I still get stuck mentally believing that there are thoughts out there that can hurt me, I don't know if it is physically speaking but I do know I fear something
Don't know if any if that made sense to you

No it is not ptsd related, the thoughts of people touching me are real in my mind to the effect I actually feel them, eventually they go away, . But they are annoying when they happen, I understand that I have created something out of my up bringing along with mental health issues and it sucks.
I'm starting to think I'm beyond help

I'm still not sure I understand what you are saying. Are you afraid of the thoughts or afraid of people touching you or both.

Do you get the thoughts and then the sensation of someone touching you when no one actually touches you?

Am I just confused?

No you are not confused, I'm not the best at explaining things sometimes, I'm afraid of the thoughts of people touching me.
And yes I get the sensation I was touched even though it was just a thought

I see so you are experiencing people touching you when there is no one there. That has to be disturbing! And I can understand being scared of it happening. It is a tactile hallucination as smilesandcries mentioned is what it sounds like.

Do you have a psychologist or psychiatrist currently? If so you should talk to them about this. If not then maybe you can discuss it with your medical doctor. If none of the above there are (in most places) mental health hotlines you can call and just talk about it and perhaps get some suggestions or help.

It could be a mental issue or it could be an actual physical nerve-type problem I suppose, but I'm no doctor or psy.
Best thing to do is discuss it with medical professionals and see what they suggest.
Hugs!

How do you deal with them as they happen?
