I'm in an IOP and am supposed to go to group 3-5x a week. I haven't gone in over a week because I got scared and lost trust for them. Thinking of asking to be discharged from the program. For the past two weeks when I go I've been consistently lying and not talking during groups. I've been in the program for over a year and they used to help but not so much anymore. However I do not have anyone for therapy or to prescribe me meds outside the program. What should I do?

Hi, do you have a case worker/social worker who might be able to help you find various resources, like a pdoc to go to for meds, etc?

Could you ask the therapist in charge of the groups if you could be assigned a social worker? Sorry, just typing my thoughts.

I could. The pdoc there is supposed to help me find another psychiatrist that will prescribe me clozapine (since I had trouble with this last time). What does a social worker do?

As far as I can tell from my two experiences, a social worker is supposed to connect you with whatever services you need, like outpatient pdoc services, shelter or housing, etc. I hope it will work out for you.
