Hi...asking for a friend...
Can a person who doesn't have delusions, hallucinations still be diagnosed with schizoaffective personality? Thanks, Anna |

I only have the DSM-5 and it only mentions Schizoaffective disorder, Bipolar type and Schizoaffective disorder, Depressive type... and only says that these are "intermediate disorders" without offering any criteria for diagnosis.
To be honest, I am freshly diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder, depressive type and am trying to understand why. I do have hallucinations and that seems to be at the top of every list of symptoms. Some of the things that I've found online will list some of the symptoms but warn that the disorder can be as different as each individual. Most of the symptoms that I've read of are very similar, though, and incorporate symptoms of both depressive and bipolar types which seem to be cardinal to the disorder. Just Google "Schizoaffective symptoms" and you'll find a number of trusted websites that list the symptoms. I have no idea why the criteria were yanked from the DSM-5 (I have a preference for DSM-III (3) but lost it in a move). Good luck, and well wishes to your friend, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

schizoaffective isn't a personality disorder.
there's paranoid personality, schizoid personality and schizotypal personality disorders. maybe your friend should question their doctor, no one here is a doctor capable of making diagnoses. Last edited by Anonymous37803; Jan 14, 2016 at 11:58 AM. |
