Has anyone else had trouble finding a therapist because you have a sza diagnosis? I'm looking for someone, and I keep getting turned down because therapists say they can't someone with a schizoaffective dx. Same with psychiatrists especially because I'm on clozapine as well.
Today I finally found a T who said she'd do an intake and she's located almost an hour away, and even she is hesitant to take me in.

Same here. This is why I'm going to try the outpatient program at the hospital to see if they can help me find a t willing. good luck. Sadly, it's not easy. Not for me at least. :/

That's frustrating! I wonder why they would refuse someone with a sza dx?

Because they don't have much experience with the disorder and don't believe they can help them... That's what they say, although I'm sure there's a part of them that just don't want to deal with it because it's a little tougher than other mental illnesses like depression and anxiety and people without any mental illness at all.

Maybe they feel like it is more economical to just let people keep taking medication.
As a side note, Freud didn't think that his talk therapy would work with someone with psychosis but just people with neurosis ( depression and anxiety etc.)
Since then there have been some doctors that have had success with psychotherapy and psychosis. E.J. Kempf for one.

Weird because the place I go through accepts patients who have sza. I had 2 therapists through them and I fired one because she was always late on me and I couldn't stand her, she didn't quite understand where I was coming from and kept trying to push her book on me. Frankly I want a therapist I can talk to about anything which I have now. I have the Bipolar type and she's good about everything.
