I read that sarcosine, taken daily, was effective for negative symptoms' treatment. There are also supplements like mucuna and L-tyrosine which interact with dopamine, though they seem like they might mess with antipsychotics.

i just do old school orthomolecular. its massive doses of vitamin c, b-100 complex, niacinamide (or whatever form of b3 you want...), plus vitamin E...plus whatever other supplements you fancy.
i find that i tolerate the tranquilizer (abilify, in my case) much better than before the vitamins. my overall health is better and my "mental state" is vastly improved. |

I used to take very high quality multi vitamins and fish oil and it did seem to help me feel better and less depressed......I was also drinking kale, spinach, pineapple, banana, strawberry and blueberry smoothies daily at that time and I think the combo was helpful. I plan to go back to doing this soon. I hope you receive the answers you seek and the help you need. (((Hugs)))

NAC (n-acetyl cycsteine, i think). alpha lipoic acid. i think one must take grams of vitamin C with nac and biotin with alpha lipoic acid. niacin or niacinamide. gingko biloba (td prevention, if nothing else...). taurine (mood, anxiety, td prevention).

I often though not consistently take B12, a multivitamin, and fish oil. I can't be sure it helps any, but I don't take them everyday.

I've heard that NAC is effective for negative symptoms, but sadly don't have any data to back that up with.

How much NAC should one take? I couldn't find any information on dosage. It seems like it is being talked of as a miracle drug for a variety of physical ailments too, which makes me skeptical.

There is a saying "do you know what they call alternative medicine that's been scientifically proven effective, medicine". This is suppose to mean that alternative medicine isn't shown to be effective clinically. Then you have those that are in the camp of believing that big pharmacy can't profit off alternative medicine so undermines its effectiveness......I'm not educated enough to have an option so I just walk around confused and hoping a legitimate cure will be found for all this.

right now, im doing both. an ever shrinking psych drug lineup, plus tons of supplements. i think the combination works well for me, better than just a tranquilizer or just a ton of supplements.

I just tried a carrot, cucumber, kale and celery smoothie. I felt good but when I overdid it with errands I started hearing voices. |
