Hi all,
I've been struggling with schizoaffective disorder for about five years now. It's taken a long, long, LONG time to start feeling comfortable with myself again. I started therapy with a psychologist who specializes in psychosis, and it's been nice. I feel like I'm accomplishing more in the last couple weeks than I have on my own in the last couple of years. I'm optimistic for the future, and am starting to feel empowered by my illness. It's just part of the "VeganSniffer package". "Yeah, I'm a pretty cool guy. I enjoy laughing with others, and am studying music. Occasionally I get paranoid about the police following me, but that's just part of my quirks and who doesn't have quirks?" I've found that to be a very positive way to look at myself. For the first time in a very long time, I'm optimistic for the future. |

Hello Vegan: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find PC to be of benefit.
Perhaps you've already noticed it... but one additional forum here on PC that may be of interest to you, since you're having such a positive experience in therapy, is the schizoaffective disorders success forum. Here's a link: https://forums.psychcentral.com/schi...ccess-stories/ __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go." Really glad you're feeling better and even optimistic about the future. Getting a good psychiatrist helps a lot, and a good medicine can help reduce symptoms. Best of luck with your course of treatment!
