Think I'm getting tardive dyskinesia (involuntary tongue movements) I have been on antipsychotics and antidepressants for 20 years, on and off at times.
My psychiatrist gave me a medication to help with tardive dyskinesia. But I'm worried that if I don't stop or wean off my medications, it will get worse and be permanent Also my body is moving slower than normal, is this part of tardive dyskinesia? |

I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you if your body moving slow is part of tardive dyskinesia but it sounds like a parkinsonism thing to me. What did your doctor say when you asked him/her? What did they say about weaning off the medications, if that would help? My advice would be to ask the psychiatrist. Hope you feel better soon. HUGS Kit

I don't know a lot about tardive dyskinesia but I have experienced it on medications and I read that it can become permanent. Probably speaking with your psychiatrist would be the best thing to do; maybe you can try a different AP and see if you respond better with it? I know I reacted really badly to certain AP's but other AP's I seem to be able to tolerate without weird side effects.

My hands shake sometimes. I know is it Parkinsonism.. But, I don't mind shaking a bit if it makes me stable in the mind. I just deal with it.
